What a good idea firefly. Would never have thought of going to the local pool. I know we can use some of the truck stops and also some public toilets have separate showers.
Just back from latest trip.........caravan park was $10 night powered site.........showers for back packers were 50cents.....yep...the pool next door was $2.80 each......and showers there too
We used pools in a lot of places up north, Gordenvale was good but the buggers closed the free camp down. A lot of campers at Tamworth went for an early morning swim. I am led to believe you can by a pass to Tamworth pool for duration of the festival.
We had Saturday night bath because it was church on Sunday. Special occasion. I cringe at the thought of lack of my personal hygiene as I attended high school as an early teen. My grandmother neglected to teach me that very important routine. I learned very quickly at boarding school. Many indoor pools are open all year round, therefore the showers would be available. Heck, while you're in there you might as well fit in an aquarobics class followed by the shower. Just a thought.
