Any clues anyone

I know this isn't a selling site but I would really need some leads as to web sites and/or car yards that sell 2nd hand campervans around Melbourne. I'm looking for a second hand automatic vehicle (preferably a Hi Ace but I'm open to other possibilities.     I've been hunting for a while but keep striking out for one reason or another (too old, too many ks, too expensive etc. etc.).   I have tried Gum tree and the online Trading Post so far.  I'd really appreciate some clues as to other places I can look - you can PM if you like.  I hope this message fits within the Forum Guidelines.  Thanks.

The CMCA have a for sale section... I just googled it, it seems to be open to non-members too.

Thanks very much Gerty but I don't know what CMCA stands for. I tried googling it and got corporate sites.

Sorry Almurta...Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia. After you get your campervan they are very helpful with insurance and all things pertaining to campervans/motorhomes. Well worth it, but not open to caravanners.
But dont forget Thegreynomads!

Avan in Pakenham had a few campervans when I was there buying my Avan camper trailer, worth a check Almurta. 03 59454527. Winebago just north of Melbourne advertise as well, doesn't hurt to check.

Thanks for all your replies. I'm currently chasing up a lead on a campervan but can't see till after Thursday. It's a bit dearer than I'd hoped for but this process does seem to be like looking for a needle in a haystack. I agree Milo - it's amazing how much some people want for vehicles over 20 years old. Or that have done an incredible amount of ks. A guy really worked hard at trying to sell me a campervan that had done 610,000+k on the original motor yesterday. He told me it was such a good vehicle it would easily do a million ks on one motor!
That'd be something worth seeing.
Ah well ... back to the search.

When I was looking around, I wondered if it'd be better to buy a newer vehicle and either fit it out yourself or pay someone to do it.

A good reliable vehicle is the most important bit, especially for a woman travelling alone.

Good luck Almurta. smile

Almurta,
Google CMCA, then go to their Members market section. If you scan down the February section - it is in 3 weekly parts, you will find that there are a few Hiace type vehicles listed. I haven't checked the advance ads placed for March.

I bought my caravan on Ebay, then closed my account.
Check out the agents and yards as well as the private sales. Give yourself heaps of time, have a layout and a base maximum price in mind before you set out on the hunt.
I had a van layout in mind and a budget, and it took 18 months to find what I was looking for, for the right price.
It's your van, your money, your search. Good luck, and stick to your guns.

And take your time. Don't rush into anything without checking it out thoroughly.
