Parents cringe in fear of the PC authorities and the kids hold it over their heads. It seems the kids control the household and the parents unwittingling become their victims, and the victims of DOCS. Family isn't family anymore. Respect and manners are missing. There's no need to bash the kids, but a subtle tap on the leg or bum to remind them who makes the rules is sometimes in order. The theory of "reasoning" with a toddler is absurd. They don't have enough intellect or language skills, or experience of life to be capable of negotiating right and wrong, the rules and expectations of the disciplines of life. Computer games are wrecking the social structure. They are for entertainment for a short time, but is seems your grandson's father is the child in the family. They kill the characters in one game, and the characters return next time they play the game. There's no such thing as dead to those who play these games. I raised my girls firm and fair, with regular discipline and slaps. The youngest is my 30 year old brat to whom the rules do not apply apparently. She will always remind everyone if they break the rules. Her vicious temper cost me a lot of smashed walls as she grew up. My middle daughter if placid, content and easy going, and nothing is too hard. My eldest is a social climbing butterfly, striving to meet the expectations and approvel of the social set with superficial appearances. They snuck out, smoked behind the house and tried everything we tried when we were growing up and learning out limits. That's life. Unfortunately too many kids are suffering from TATADDs. "Thong Across The A.ss Deficit Disorders".

Chris, you're right about my grandson's father. I could write a book on him and his family!
As for the 'shoot em up kill em' stupid games...I've never given him any toy or game that involves killing, and he understands that, and respects my decision. Thank goodness.
My daughter has made a lot of stupid choices, but who hasn't?! I still don't particularly agree with her lifestyle, but she has a good heart and she's done a good job of rearing my grandson, often under difficult circumstances.
while it may be just a joke of a thread, i have always learnt not to judge a book by its cover, and who knows what some of these kids may turn out to be in years to come they might just suprise you...
