Was just sitting on the step having a smoke and I hear this mighty racket like a branch had dropped off the old gum tree, I looked up and the big branch that nearly touches the roof of the house is bobbing up and down, didnt think much of it as its stormy, I hear this grunting noise, turn on the outside light and heres a big possum staring me in the face, I told the possum in uncertian terms I didnt appreciate being frightened by him and that he should bugger off elsewhere, not in those exact words they were a bit more colourful then that lol, cute little critters though

If you think that amorous possums are noisy, you should experience bloody Koalas in the mating season. The males make noises like angry bull terriers fighting.
My cat, on a stay over at my Daughter's place, heard them the first night & wouldn't come out from under the bed after dark. When it wanted to go to the toilet it would race out side, do its business & race back under the bed as fast as it could go. It was soon a nervous wreck so we had to take it home after a couple of days.
Damned Wildlife .. did I tell you about the flying foxes that ruined EVERY mango on my tree this season! Caught one & got a lecture from the 'carer' who came to retrieve it from the bird mesh. Though I must admit it was a cute little thing lying there in her arms sipping orange juice.
When my son lived here for awhile, he'd sit out there in the evenings, and the possum would come down to him looking for something to eat. He was good though, he didn't feed it.
I managed to snap a photo one night. Sometimes they sound like their playing bowls or something up there.

More likely they're playing "or something" than bowls

You're probably right, but I say bowls because it sounds like they have something rolling around. Another time I swear they were racing each other up and down the area. Oh, maybe that was a figure 8 dance!

We were in a caravan park in Bussellton WA and the Possums were jumping off the tree branch onto the caravan roof, running along the roof and sliding down the awning and back up the tree to do it all over again.
I swear they were wearing hobnailed boots and the little mongrels kept at it most of the night.

That's funny!
Sounds like the tap dancing cattle in the truck that pulled in next to us one night.

Yep I thought it was funny also but the wife was not amused, she was tired the next day as she is a very light sleeper.
