Surgeons report tuesday taken me this long to post

disbeliefwell guys ive got the surgeons report, it seems im now awaiting

a letter from the royal brisbane hospital to go and see an oncology team consisting of radiation and chemotherapy ,it seems that now they were saying that i had a  little bit in the fatty tissue but no more in the nodes, now the story  has changed and they think perhaps that piece looking like fatty tissue may have been a node destroyed by the cancer.

So by the sounds of it i am heading for either a bout of chemotherapy or radiation or possibly both, im not a happy chappy ,i can honestly say i felt like coming home and smashing something to pieces and screaming why why why ,this is bulls**t ,so unfair ,but then as i always say there is someone worse off than me.

so i shall tackle this with full force, i have no choice, i didnt want to do it and my young heidz (22) was devastated when i said i realy dont want to do this, so i shall be brave BUT as i said if it makes me that sick i cant do a thing i will give up and enjoy the rest of my life .

So there you go guys not so good news but apparently i am at a high risk of it coming back and so i guess this is a preventative.

its pouring here and has done all night long, my mum is in nz and said terrible weather over there, i havent broken the news to her yet as i want her to enjoy her time with my sister who lives over there.

stay safe on  them roads and the meet up near gympie cant come quick enough as far as i am concerned .love to you all della &graeme

I am so sorry Della, in fact I just don't know what to say except we will be keeping you and Graeme in our thoughts and prayers.

Please try and keep your chin up and think positive.

Love to you and Graeme.

Geez, Della did you swear? I would have, this should have been better!
Its hard when you hear so much about chemo being so nasty, but a friend said hers wasnt too bad, apparently they've refined it a lot over the years... and shes free of cancer now, some years later, doing her normal things in life. Keep us posted?
Very very best wishes to you, and Graeme.

I too don't know what to say Della except that I am thinking of you and Graeme.

One thing, if I may, just make sure that they give you enough information so that you can make and "informed" decision on the type of treatment that YOU want.  They may and do say "OK, we will start (whatever) tomorrow and quite often don't give you enough time to digest what they have said and to work out if it is what you want and suitable to YOU.

I have been down this road with someone very close to me and know how daunting it all is.

Stiff backbone my dear, stay positive.

Regards

Elaine (Ma)

That's a real bummer, and I really feel for you. When you are diagnosed and surgery is the only option, you recover and now this.
Why didn't they investigate before surgery so this could be removed? Is this still an option?
Make the most of every day, and with your strong attitude, you'll cruise through it.
I wish you all the best for everything you're going through. I hope you have a strong support team around you.

It is obviously a real downer to find this out, just when you thought treatment was behind you.

But - the chemo and radiation will be to try to prevent any future returns of the cancer, so in a sense they are an investment in your future.

The treatments may make you feel rather awful, for a little while but focus on what you plan to do once they are over.

You will continue to have lots of people thinking of you and hoping for successful treatment.

Oh Della! I'm a bit lost for words too. What a crappy outcome.

But you can still beat this. You are a strong person, and with all the love you are receiving from all your nomad friends, your family and friends at home, you'll get through this stronger than ever.

Blessings to you and Graeme.

Well Della it seems your fight goes on.

The only way you can win a fight is to take it on and 'Kick A**.

There are hundreds if not thousands on here wishing you well.

Keep fighting and win that fight.

Best wishes

thank you guys i plan to tackle this with full on force i have to if not more for my family
they are behind me one hundred percent and if i cant cope with it ,i have the option to say im
out of this ,and they will back me up,its a very hard decision to make but i think i will feel
a lot better when i have spoken to the oncology team and see what is ahead and as long as its
not for ages, because that will realy get me down, and i also want to find out where at because apparently
they have an oncology at nambour across the road from hospital .

i most certainly do not want to go driving to brisbane all the time so we shall see what awaits ,gees i tell ya
what ive been dealt some battles in my lifetime and im wondering when it will stop i thought it all stopped once i met
graeme then we had my eldest daughter have little ryan born with a brain tumour , it just seems to go on and on
anyways ive decided that i may shave my head for a cure not a hundred percent guaruanteed yet but thinking about it.

its only hair hey :)

Della, I have friends here in Echuca who have had to go to Melbourne for the radiation and to Bendigo to start the chemo, then the rest of it is done here in the very small Echuca hosp which has an oncology dept so I'm sure you might find the same in Nambour.

Della, my best friend was in the Royal Brisbane Hospital for radiation after Thyroid Cancer op...they are lovely people there. They have isolation rooms where you stay for 3 or 4 days of radiation. So maybe yours will be done the same way, then back to Nambour for Chemo.

Fingers crossed that it's the easier option.

Dear Della (Glassies) and Graeme,

So sorry to hear your news.  Can't find any words that might be of comfort to you and your family cry

You need as MUCH info as you can get BEFORE you make the decision to proceed with whatever treatment is recommended.  As Ma says - enough to make and INFORMED decision.

Above all KEEP POSITIVE and yes - I am saying it loudly smile

Della....I am so sorry to hear this....

There isn't much point in me  repeating what others have already said re: treatment...staying strong etc; but you do have a lot of friends on here who are thinking of you, wishing you well and sending heaps of positive thoughts your way.

I'm really looking forward to meeting you and Graeme at Gympie.

Love and hugs to you both.

You now have your van, and can now focus on that, at the completion of your treatment. When things start to get on top of you, think of the future trips with Graham in the van.Lol

Hey Della this may seem like a set back but it is lucky your team of docs are being so vigilant. At least you have been through the main surgery. The chemo will do a sweep through your whole body and knock out any nasties that are hiding away and will give you some extra piece of mind. I know it seems like there just one thing after another but you really are getting closer to beating this @##$#. My heartfelt wishes are with you.

Della it is the least we can do for such a brave lady. In all honesty I feel so helpless and it is all I can think of to try and help.

Our love and best wishes to both you and Graeme.
