Can anyone help me with advice on caravan parks in the Karratha area. We will be going there in a week of so, and there seems to be a shortage of caravan parks. I would welcome any suggestions in the area.

Parks in that area were very rough in 08.

The Pilbara Holiday Park was a good one to stay at, when we last visited Karratha. But since then, the mining expansion has put a great deal more pressure on accommodation in the town and I don't know if they still have tourist sites.
You'd be lucky to get a spot in Karratha township. As mentioned mining has take them over. There are 2 at Pt. Samson. The small park on the foreshore is not really suitable for bigger vans, but a new one was established up on top of the town in 2007 which was looking very nice. They both get very busy. It may be quieter at this time of the year as the region is subject to monsoonal activity. I stayed at the Roebourne park for a week. New owners were working very hard to bring it up to date as the elderly lady who used to run couldn't handle the maintenance and it got a bit out of hand. It's ok now. The "locals" don't cause any problems either. Pt. Samson shop produces the best fish and chips I've ever eaten.

I stayed at the overflow at the golf club just out of town $15 per night and had toilets and hot showers We were told we could not get there before 5pm but arrived early and told them everything was full. had to leave after 72 hours but could come back after 24 hours. Was patrolled by ranger each day and if you did not pay $200 fine on the spot Ken
