Canberra Nomad Meetings

Over the last couple of weeks, Chi Chi (Mel) and I have had the pleasure of meeting up with some other "Grey" Nomads.

Bill12 called in for a cuppa, having driven many k's out of his way enroute to Greens Lake; and today we met rrox (Richard and Felicity) at the Botanic Gardens coffee shop. New friends all.

Will try to post a couple of pics.

Edited to clarify subject.

We've done the political scene and Cindy closed the thread. These discussions do tend to turn into heated debate, so it's best to sit on the fence.
Besides, it's embarassing and a childish joke.

It's always great to meet fellow GN's to cement the friendship which has developed on the forum.

Canberra Nomad Meetings

Sorry about the title of the thread, I didnt think of it having a double meaning.... sort of detracts from how nice it was to meet these people doesnt it.!

Edit:  Fixed! Love that "Edit" button

RE: Canberra Meetings

Hi Gerty, great to see some of the nomads going out of their way to meet up occassionally, coffee shop is a good idea and now that we have settled into here fairly close we will eventually come up to say hello again. Kalgoorlie was a pleasant feeling to meet up like that and a bit of fun too.

It is a beautiful area here at Lakes Entrance and us being 8 k's out gives some breathing space from the conjestion in town. After the Au weekend it has gone quiet, a bit hard to adjust to as in the past the bigger parks we have been involved with have a constant flow all year. Being a holiday park and a really nice one at that we hope to get some passing nomads as is already happening. We will adjust, offer the best deal possible and go bloody crazy over winter. Pleny of fish here in Lake Tyers and the Entrance and best of all, prawns. Even at $15 a kilo off the boats if you don't want to catch them yourself there are the local smaller prawns trawled at sea and taste great. At this stage Portland is off the radar but who knows. It was good for us to be offered this park so close to perfect and we can slowly improve it. Must go , catch up one day again. Good luck with your travels this year.

Thanks a mill Gerty, for convening this too brief but very enjoyable get-together; we were grateful for your help with transport and arranging Chi Chi to come along. We're enjoying the wonderful weather Canberra has turned in for us as well.

Looking forward to meeting again any time either of you gals are in Brissy.

Sorry Glenda, planning to be in Brisbane. I usually recommmend the C'park in O'Connor because its closest to the city but dont think they take pets. Will get back to you.

Glenda, the only place in Canberra that accepts pets is the Showground AKA E.P.I.C. But the Folk Festival is on over Easter so it could be just a tad busy! The Folk Festival is fantastic, try to spend at least a day there.
Best choice would be the Riverside in Queanbeyan, I phoned to check, and yes they do accept pets, and have a vacancy for Easter. But the lady said to book fairly soon, as not many spots left. Phone# is 02 6297 4749  email riverside-park@bigpond.com

Sorry we wont be here to meet you!

Whatever you do, DO NOT accept an unpowered site at Riverside QBN.  You are sent down the river bank and unless you are a VERY SMALL unit you will have trouble getting in and a lot more trouble getting out.

Been there done that at Riverside.

For what it's worth, we did go back, against our better judgement but NEVER AGAIN.
