Polish rig

If you keep your rig clean and polished, it will reduce wind reistance. This will reduce petrol consumption and increase performance.

Will it? How do you figure that?
I reckon it will make it easy to keep your rig clean and protect it. That is all.

Wow! Next time I do a lap of Aus I'll keep my rig polished, I may save 10c in petrol if I'm lucky.

Maybe if I shave my head I may not need as much to eat to maintain my energy level as I will be so much more aerodynamic.

My eyes have been opened up to so many possibilities it's scary.w00t.gif

Keep wind resistance to a minimum.
I wonder if I polish that sign on the top of my car it would reduce the wind drag. Nah!

It has been proven that polishing light aircraft makes them more efficent on fuel & a higher speed.

Mine is always highly polished to protect it from the elements & also makes it easier to clean as the grime does not stick as hard, so I guess I;m doing as good as I can expect.

I polish ours about twice a year.

Once before we head off and then again a good clean and polish when we get back.

It has been found that 83% of the time it does increase fuel efficiency.

Also 95% of the people asked in a survey, said that when they went to purchase a secondhand caravan, they would look for a well maintained, polished caaravan.

75% of dealers surveyed said that a well polished caravan, brings a higher price.

However, the polish manufacturer "Mothers" said that in 60% of instances people used the wrong polish and in nearly 100% of the time they did not realize that after applying polish, they should seal it with a coat of wax.

There are special polishes for different surfaces.

Fibreglass polish does not contain any amonia, because this will cause the white gelcoat to yellow.

Aluminium polish contains special ingredients to stop it from rusting.

Wood polish has ingredients to stop it rotting.

High speed polish has a bug inhibitor to stop bugs from sticking to it, so as to retain the ability to achieve high speeds. e.g. airplanes.

About 60% of the above posting is fact and the other 40% rubbish.

I will let everyone sort out the facts.

Also, did you know that there was a survey about statistics?

It ws found that 72% of the time statistics are made up on the spot.

Cheers

Our van is so old that if we polished it too much it would no longer have any white paint left!

Aluminium doesn't rust, it corrodes. Polish on my van would rub the oxidised paint off. I keep it clean, but the coloured stripes are peeling off slowly.
So much caravan, so little energy.

Statistics say if you put your head in an oven and your feet in a freezer, on average you will be comfortable!

Just cleaned and polished our van, by the way that's the first time since we bought it in July 2011, now we shall save money by using less diesel
