Just heard from our grandaughter who is a recruit at Kapooka, she spent last night filling sandbags, they filled about 4000 bags and went back to camp.
They still had to do their scheduled physical test, hard but she passed

Wagga's always been flood-prone. There was a ban on new buildings in the North Wagga area for many years because they flooded so frequently, but that was overturned a few years ago, as I understand, and now theres lots of new homes. They'd be pretty wet now!
My Grandmothers house was in the middle of what is now the Woolworths car-park, it was built about 3 ft off the ground, and used to have a floodwater mark 3/4 the way up the walls... Levees are wonderful things!

Fantastic GS, I was wondering if they would get the Kapooka recruits involved in assisting, congratulations on her passing her physical test. I had to do the run bit twice (6km run) when at Kapooka, the bloke in front of me got over the line and I was the first to miss out, with a number behind me, so had to do it again.
Good on the Army and your grandaughter, I take my hat off to them all.

Tough and small, she'll do well GS! Those poor recruits get to do all the hard work in town then their own as well. Good on her!
They were really happy doing it, thet felt like they were giving something back to Wagga, the recruits are really welcome in town when they are on leave.
