The site is already busy. It takes a lot of time to keep up with everything. I haven't looked at the joke page for weeks for example. Keep up the good work fellow nomads. The spirit here is good - rum, brandy, vodka, gin, scotch etc.

One of the reasons that Ma deleted was the arrogance of a few so called members who had the gall to follow up on subjects she disagreed with on the open forum with abusive PMs questioning her experiences.
It gives me great pleasure to announce that ONE of the main offenders has now deleted his/her account.
From what I have read since this topic was started, I believe the support shown to Ma possibly influenced his/her decision to delete. We thank you all.
Don't get your hopes up for a speedy return though, she is badly bruised emotionally from what has been sent in PMs and will need time to consider her options.
Again, we thank you for your support.

You are VERY, VERY close to determining why Ma opted to delete her status.
It had nothing to do with the lighthearted fun that happens between the family of regular postees, more the criticism from the fence sitters, the arrogance of the "know it alls" and the people who never admit when they are wrong, especially the "know it alls.
Thanks for the feedback Blue, and keep working on Ma to come back to the forum, I may have a rest from the forum myself, can't take all this drama, not resigning but will try to avoid the temptation to post for awhile. Plenty of troops here to keep Wombat in line...he he....

This forum is like Happy Hour conversations- starts out simple, and people add to the conversation, and it all flows along. Sometimes it involves one topic, and another will meander in as comments are made along the way. Some folk talk a lot, some are a bit shy and talk a little, and some just have another drink.
The is really no such thing as "Off topic" in a conversation.
Lot's of folk inject humour, challenge or bits of rubbish and/or plain bad taste, but that's how it goes. Its just banter. But on the whole you find here that people welcome newbies, genuinely care about the welfare of each other, respond to requests and questions, and give the best advice based on experience. Occasionally, you'll find bias and predjudice, but that's in any happy hour too.
This is not parliment, with the Speaker insisting Westminster Rules. It's a community and it takes all sorts.
It helps to remember that this is written word, and thus we miss the vocal tones and body language which makes the writer's intent clearer.
Like any happy hour, if you get annoyed with the conversation, you have choices: start a row, go home, suck it up, or have another drink.
Couldn't of said it better myself, if we all just pass quickly by what heats us up and don't respond in a negative tone you soon forget it with the next helpful, funny, inspirational, stupid or thought provoking subject that takes your fancy this too will pass but we will all miss Ma.
i think maybe if we feel like the post were on is getting over heated or what ever, rather than leaving , maybe talk to Cindy about it, and take a break , then come back with a fresh head ... , just a thought..
Once we've been true friends on GN I'm pretty sure we're inclined to remain friends with the genuine ones. If a topic is getting out of hand in anyone's opinion they need to go away, and resist the urge to comment in the negative. To send PM's to anyone to "have a go" for no apparent reason is just plain nasty. Instead of questioning people about their credibility, why not just ask them by PM if you have a question. There's no need to attack anyone, ever. Many of us have a broad range of experiences to draw on when expressing ourselves on this forum. With that most of us have a sense of humour which often rears it's head to lighten the mood, and present the lighter side to a topic. No one has the right to attack anyone else on these forums, ever. It happened to me a couple of years ago and I thought those days had passed, but it looks like the worms wriggle in from time to time. They may even be the same worm who attacked me using another name tag, returned to attack anyone, particularly women who may have a wealth of experience to call upon. Let's weed out the worms.

Geez Granny, I dont even want to remember those days!! You showed much patience and courage, but I decided it wasnt worth being a member here with such awful people so I deleted myself. Didnt take long before I wished I hadnt!
Boroma577 wrote:I have no doubt about that Blue....just curious as to how you know a member has deleted their membership??
It is not hard to work out.
Ma & Blue would know the username from where the PM's came and a quick look at the membership list would show if they are still members, if no then they have deleted their account or it has been deleted for them.
I don't know who, why or what happened but I hate to see a long, well thought of member feeling that they have to leave because of some morons on here that have no sense or tact.
Cheers Neil

I don't know MA but did enjoy her post so sorry to see her go.
Often when a main player feels they must leave that often others leave as well as some forums are finding out at the moment
It is a shame when the valuable loveable or knowledgeable people on the forums are compelled to leave.
I have seen on many forums where someone trying to give help is continually harassed until they pull the pin. Usually it is the ones you can't afford to loose that leave not the ones that should be kicked out.
Very hard for admin as the damage is done before it comes to their attention. as most people don't like to WHINGE.
I have seen it where it has come to PM's for members to pass on info etc because of harassment. I hope this forum does not follow down this track.
If you disaggree and think the info is dangerous etc then maybe state a simple fact and then leave it. Send a polite PM if you must.
I to find this forum my therapy as I am a solo and it is my company and my morning fix with the outside world.
Keep up the good work and for heavens sake, all of us lighten up and enjoy the life you have as it might be gone before you know it. If you wake up and get one leg to follow the other you are in front. Get out there and enjoy what you have and try and lighten some one else's life. There are others out there that could do with you help if you can. That means on here with a kind word or at the rest stop when you see someone sitting on their own.
Regards Brian

I don't think I have ever seen a bad response to a reply on this forum.
Please give us a few more details so I can check them out ?????

Garry, you have been absent for a little while and sometimes things move fairly fast on forums as you know. Yes, there have been some bad responses, some members and posts removed by Cindy and some members left of their own accord and now hopefully the forum can return to it's normal happy state. Best to leave sleeping dogs lie now rather than go over old ground.
Just a few hiccups that have been straightened out now, except a couple of valued members who will be missed have bailed out because of the ill feeling that prevailed at the time. Life goes on as we know.

Well, I'm not leaving no matter what gets said to me. I have on occasions experienced rude comments after asking a question or offering advice. I haven't bothered going back into that thread again. Its that simple. I"ve had worse happen in my life than an offensive comment made to upset me. Keep on keeping on folks. As Billeeee would say, Stay excited!! Chillax!!
Some of the most forthright, upsetting contributors have a tag but no details on their non-existent profile. Hiding their light under a bushell is a little bit sneaky. To cast aspersions from behind a non-existent profile is not very honest. If you are prepared to speak up you have to be prepared to stand up. Anonymity is one thing.
