In response to your question Yogi, it happens on this forum often.
Someone ask a question about a specific place, and several chime in with I haven't been there, but.......
It seems to be a common response. It's only slightly worse than a silly question - the silly answer.

 CG spot on.

One of my pet hates, someone comes on the forum and asks "Thinking about buying a Disco 3 for towing?" or some other item, and then we get the ignorant owners of every other make of vehicle etc coming on and saying, "I heard from a mate, that etc. you should consider looking at a xyz."

Do they think the person asking the question hasn't enough intelligence to consider other options BEFORE asking he question.

To my way of thinking, its an insult.

Sorry for the rant folks, but.

Good rant Dusty. Timely and valid.
It's a trait of some to put their 2 bob's worth whether it's relevant or not.
That's forums folks. I have to admit it does annoy me a little, but I move on if it doesn't affect me.

Well sometimes we do agree CG.

People reply to a post with what they feel (I stress) what they feel is helpful advice and thinking they are of assistance and all anyon can do is put a post like this up and tear them down!!

Take what we want and leave the rest.
I don't feel any obligation to respond to every post, just because I'm a regular contributor.
No one should feel torn down unless they take it upon themselves.
Things get out of hand when contributors play the "I've got a better/bigger one than you" or "I know more than you do".
It's not a competition. It's a place to SHARE information based on experiences.
When a post beings, "I don't really know, but ........ etc". There's a clue.
Not pulled down, just pulled into line. Going off topic is better than that "but".

 Sorry Blaze,

I have never owned or wanted to buy a Disco 3, but......?

Did own a Land Rover SWB Series 2 many years ago, and what a faithful little battler it was.

As for talking sense, now there's a first.
