I just joined "Pick This Place" Forum recently and it occurred to me maybe we should start another guessing game and call it "Who is This". We could post photos of famous people and you have to guess who they are. If we can get enough starters I will e-mail the Webmaster with a req...

Want to discuss your paperclip collection or the price of tea in China? This is the spot to go ‘off topic’ and talk about anything not related to grey nomads and travelling around Australia. Just one rule here (besides keeping posts friendly and respectful) – please no religion or politics. Thanks...

I saw this elsewhere, I make a post; "The poster below me has a cat..." Then the poster below me answers, "No I don't but the person below me has a cat." Can be a yes answer too, but just keep the ball rolling, and remember as well as answering ask a question too. I'll start; "T...

Goodbye from an old member
(Preview)
Well, lots of things have occurred since I last visited this site. Most tragic of all was the sudden passing of my Darling Wife in March this year 2026. At my age of 85, we had decided that we would sell our one and only ever Van and 4WD this year and enjoy our new life in our Lifestyle village close to our be...

Actual learning - AI will not help
(Preview)
I have been learning a new language... very (torturous to put it mildly) slowly! I do use AI in a limited form. But even with my utterly absolute basic level I do see the mistakes. For the remotely fluent speaker they could see the failures of AI by magnitudes. Just because AI has ticked all the boxes for y...

Post your pothole here. High St. Lalor Victoria. Spotted a pothole that must have been 450mm diameter and 160mm deep on a road that can be very busy. An accident waiting to happen.

AI
(Preview)
Last night our tv asked for permission to instal an update. As it has done this before, I clicked on "yes" without thinking too much about it. I now have AI installed on it. The voice command feature is now run by AI and I have to admit it's more efficient than the old system. Now I have this thing regarding i...

I watched the Aussies play Paraguay on Friday morning.I saw Paraguayan players rolling around on the pitch clutching their leg, writhing in absolute agony, after they had tripped over their own feet in a tackle. Then came a crafty little look to see if the ref had seen it. If no free kick was given they w...

I am an old dinosaur, bought another actual physical diary, the same as decades past! A Collins 381 week to view, last year was $14, this year $17. I suppose it is better than memory, a bit over $300 for two TB a few years ago, now about $800 for two TB of flash memory. Have been busy deleting the endless list...

WA police trialling facial recognition technology. 130,000 faces captured in Fremantle and Perth. Might as well erase the word privacy from the dictionary, because it's a bit like common sense which departed some years ago. Yep they will no doubt get some crims in the net but, once your face is in the...

Lack of double glazing

6.9°C this morning in Sydney at our place. It's such a waste of energy & time mopping up water. Tomorrow morning it is supposed to be 5°C, & we have had this in previous years. So I am expecting even more condensation. Wish we had double glazing & thermal break frames. In Germany they use tri...

Trucks and crap

We all hear it time and time again about some, and I say only some caravan or motorhome people that they discharge grey or black water whilst travelling along the highway. That's nothing compared to trucks in particular 2 decks on a B-double with cattle. On a return visit today from the south coast we...
