Traverling north to Gympie today, approx 4 Klms south of town, was a south bound 4x4 with a horse float, in an instant the door of the horse float door opened and a fairly large cow / heafer, fell out onto the road, the car behind hit the poor animal, which rolled onto the soft grass verge, got up, & dazed walked into the center of the Bruce, apart from that, the car that hit the animal appeared not to stop, nor did the driver with the float? kinda wierd eh !!. But what amazed me that drivers North & South bound slowed, but never stopped ? have they no regard for any living thing? to much in a hurry to get to point "B". have we breed our siblings to be like that? {I havn't} if we have then the world has become a scary place with total lack of respect for anything, yep just a cow, but it has feelings to I feel.
Thats me off my soap-box, but i did feel sad ! for the cow & for us humans.
You'd think the bloke towing the float would have noticed the sudden surge of power which occurs when you lose a 300-400 kg load of steak on the hoof. The other motorist must have sustained some damage to the car. Other motorists must have seen it. The animal was injured and dazed and confused, standing in the middle of the worst highway in the country and no one stopped, called police or anything? Very strange situation. Now if you had a UHF and the float tug had a UHF you could have called them up and let them know what was going on. What did you do?

No UHF, was in the wife's little car, the Semi in front of me braked so im sure he would have jumped on the radio, I was traverling other direction with semi trailers in front & behind, on my way back from Gympie a few hrs later, no sign of the cow. LOL delta 18,? as it happens Gerty, I did have a Shotgun with me as I was on my way to Gympie Clay Target Club, & only carry a firearm when going to a shoot! but a Shotgun is not the firearm to use in that situation, & the cops would have been over me like a rash !!! Anyway, I would prefer not to see that again.

So, you did the same as these people ?????
Shame...for leaving the cow and shame for criticising others for doing the same as you.
If I got your last post wrong, I sincerely apologise but no where did you say you stopped ???????
dont think i would of stopped if i was travelling on that road in a different direction either i once stopped for some baby ducks on a huge highway the highway from gold coast to sunshine coast and boy did i cop some flack for that people were telling me i could of been in serious trouble for doing that, i wasnt the only person pulled up in a lane there were plenty of cars stopping behind me and beside me trying to save a whole heap of baby ducks trying to get to mum and dad who were standing on the side of the road.
but if i had of been on the opposite side i would not have stopped just getting i would of thought i was getting in the way :) ,i also pulled up and told the lady that takes the money for the bridge that the ducks were stuck on the highway with a huge fence put up and no place to go and would she call the wildlife and tell them to get out there and do something please ,she looked at me like i was a complete nutcase and said its not up to me ?. i said well ive been on my phone for twenty minutes getting put through to several different people and im just being pushed around ,she said she woul see what she could do but i knew from her face she didnt give a rats a%*&& about those poor baby ducks half of them were flattened on the highway.
Thats just life in general i would say people are way too busy to worry about an animal in distress these days.
