HELP. Toogooloowah/Esk or nambour/Maleny

Hi Everyone, We are planning to go away. Does anyone know what there is to do between Kilcoy and Ipswich. (any waterfalls/walking tracks/places of interest)? and what is there to do between caboolture and gympie. We like walking tracks and waterfalls. Any free camping you know of? and if we stay at Maleny showgrounds what is there to do close to there? thanks. rocket n strop

Hi Jimbo, the shops will be good for some but when I go away I do not want to see a shop except for food. the waterfalls sound great. thanks. rocket n strop

There's a very good scenic loop drive around the escapment from Maleny with great veiws of the glass house mts, a nice park & coffee shop along the way.

There is also another very good lookout on the other side of town, only a couple of mins drive. A cheese & yogurt factory are worth a visit.

The drive accross to mapleton very scenic with another great lookout veiwing the coastal section. Montville is worth having a look around, checkout the cookoo clock shop, amazing.

Onto mapleton, pub on the corner overlooking the escarpment has good meals.

Visit the ginger factory at Yandina, try a ginger icecream, mmmmmmmmmmm.

Then of coarse, you have the GN get together at Gympie.

I was going to say Google too. Kilcoy, Esk, Fernvale, Wivenhoe Dam, Neurum Creek, Lake Baroon, Kondalilla Falls.

Good bakery in Fernvale. biggrin

Near Kilcoy is somerset dam, Imbil has borumba dam. Blackall ranges has lots of walks, Mapleton Falls and Kondalilla Falls. Great view of the Glasshouse Mountains from Maleny in Mary Cairncross Park, and also Glasshouse Mountains is a very scenic area. From Gympie you can drive to Tin Can Bay and hand feed the dolphins. You can do a loop from Maleny-Kenilworth-Eumundi-Nambour-Mapleton and then back across the range to Maleny. Tourist bureau will have heaps of info for you, or google Blackall Ranges....have fun.....smile

And while you're in that area you could pop into Kenilworth showgrounds for a night or two. Fantastic cheese factory within walking distance.
