Hi Jim, i usualy go for the cheep N70Z baterys from the likes of Sprint or Autopro. One on caravan & one in panelvan are both 7yrs old now & still going, price then was $100 now about $125. First thing i check when i purchase a battery is check each cell with a hydrometer, some batterys 1 cell will not be up with the others. I then use a charger & make sure they are all evenly charged before fitting. The caravan battery does get a flogging as its sometimes used in a dingy to run an electric dive compessor for 2 Hrs @ 25Amps. Its then charged up straight away. When purchasing these type of batterys find a country town where there is a larger turnover of these batterys, as they are cheeper than city prices. Local Sprint dealer buys them by the pallet.

As I think I may soon have to dip into my playlunch money to buy a replacement (starting) battery for the Pajero (diesel) I'm open to suggestions, re brands etc, from anyone who has had a good run out of theirs.
you can get easy maintenance batteries now adays, dont have to worry about checking the cells etc, cobra, ac delco, exide, there is a couple more, gone blank at the moment, buy they are all the same battery just different stickers. come from the same factory. you wont have much trouble these days, just keep an eye on the price. try the rural outlets is a good idea.
