Hi with all the floods etc happening any of you people on the road if you want an experience you will never forget, consider giving some time to an organisation such as Blazeaid who do work where ever there is a need for farmers to have fences repaired.
Not only do you repair fences but you also repair their lives and their faith in the fellow human population.
You will gain an experience that cant be replaced or even surpassed. You will work with a mob of people trying to help their fellow Australians, you will have a ball working with fun loving people as well as many chats with the people you are helping plus the thanks you get from all the local people while you are there.
The camps are usually self sufficient in the fact that most of the tools are supplied and your breakfast and evening meal is supplied by Blazeaid and the local community and you usually dine with the farmers for lunch. You usually camp in your RV or can get accomodation if needed.
Every day or week you can give helps our farmers get back to creating food for us the general community.
For more info check out the blazeaid site http://www.blazeaid.com/ or ask if you have any enquiries.
Ther are two sites starting in NSW next month and one is going already in Queeensland
Regards
Brian

Lots of different things to do. Some just pull wires or carry stuff like cutters etc when clearing. Some clean the tools at the base or help in the kitchen and other jobs around the camp. There is always something they will give you to do adn you only do what you feel comfortable with. The work is not that hard and you may learn something, but will guarantee you will have fun
Some of the gorls prefer the kitchen or washing the clothes for other volunteers while some like to get out there with the boys.
Worked with people from about 8 to over 80 so age or disabilities don't count. Lots of office work as well so just go and see you cant loose anything.
Regards Brian

Am doing some maintance on cruiser at the moment, treating rust underneath, where stones have chipped all paint off. Have joined up with BCA.Bush Church Aid, to help outback churches. Have three weeks before we have to return to NZ a month for daughters Uni Graduation. Had passed through my mind about helping the farmers out west.
Kiwi-as I am not at a site at the moment but have done a lot of time after the fires and after the floods in Victoria with Blazeaid.
I am looking at one of the two NSW sites to be soon set up as I am in the area and propose to head south so suits me.
We are doing some setup for a large show in Vic in June sometime so planning to get there before time to relax.
I spent most of 2009 at Kilmore loved every minute left a few time for family business but always return and then after the floods I did time at Pit****er and then help set up Charlton.
I hope some will give it a go as I can assure you it will be hard to get away as the satisfaction you get can not be described and the friendships you make will last for ever. I still have regular contact with people from Kilmore and Charlton that I worked with and some farmers. Also you get offers to return to farms where you work when next coming through the areas.
I prefer to work in areas where they accept travelers BEFORE their problems. That's why I was enthusiastic in setting up Charlton as they were well recognised in their support for travelers for many years.
I also do voluntary work at a steam railway in Victoria so get the joy of playing train with big trains when I want to. There are lots of areas where you can enjoy your time and have a rest at the same time.
Regards Brian
