Know how you feel Bill but I came from down south and I still think most of the year the nth is the best and the sth having rain and floods.

We lived up there for 15 yrs, each year the Pollies said they had allocated many many millions of dollars for the road to Cairns upgrade never bloody happened, all the money is spent inTownsville and their new super bypass. The road north has been patched up over patches for years, bloody disgraceful.

I noted that when I lived in Cairns. All the big money is spent to the Sunshine Coast, and after that the only main highway north, the Bruce is nothing but a sealed track - dangerously narrow, poor construction, subject to damage with very little effort.
One of my fears when towing the van up that way was coming front on with an oversize load. There's no where to go. No roadside verge or shoulder, nothing beyond the fog line which is the edge of the black top.
The Government insults it's residents and tax payers, and the visitors which leave a lot of money behind. They charge tolls in the city, but who knows where that goes.
Hang in there banana benders, things may change after the election next week. I can only hope.
Qld has some of the worst roads in this country - roads called "highways" which is an absolute joke.

I've been living here in the nth for 30 plus years and sorry it,s taken that long to get the by pass road all Money was use Dow in the S.East or Cairns where all the pollies own places.
