There are no white pointers at Cable Beach. They prefer cold water.
There are tiger sharks, reef sharks, bronzies and a couple of other small species, more intent on feeding on fish than people.
You do have to watch for the meandering crocodile, aka "snappy handbag".
One or 2 cruise Cable Beach in the wet season and settle in at Roebuck Bay around the corner from Cable/Gantheume, then they go back to Willie Creek. One has a beautiful skin - nice pair of shoes and a handbag.
Of course there are dolphins off the coast. They are much darker, almost black, but their antics are just as entertaining and endearing.
Swimming on Cable is fairly safe, except for the Irigandjes (spelling) and box jelly fish. The pain can kill, not the toxin in the sting.
Carry vinegar to neutralise the sting initially, but you MUST go to the hospital for treatment until your reaction to the pain subsides.
I have seen some people, strong, healthy young men evacuated to Perth for more intense treatment. A couple of people died from heart failure because of the intense pain.
You won't feel the pain immediately. The pain of the Irigandjes only starts about 30 minutes after contact, and because these critters are almost clear, about the size of you thumb nail you may not see them and wonder where the pain comes from.
The box jelly fish is also painful, and more immediate. Unless you're alergic, it will just hurt like hell, but get medical attention no matter what.
PS. I read the link after I wrote this.

Very safe!

The only White Pointers there are sunbaking on the beach but as long as you keep your eyes averted they don't hurt (your senses).

Cheers Neil

Yes it does say that in the link.......the "white pointers" I am talking about are those mentioned by Delta18......I don't mind keeping a look out/at them aww no

I don't like the sound of the other nasties you mention blankstare hmm

Like all places it pays to check the warnings for the beaches and other places/things so you are reasonably prepared etc.

For the record tiger sharks are just as dangerous and lethal as white pointers and white pointers have been tracked via satellite into tropical waters

Oh, I forget to warn, or advise (you choose) about the raw meat on the northern side of Cable Beach.
Among the camel rides you will notice nudists, but I've seen more meat in butcher shops.

I think I'll stick to the live meat, and I don't mean the Camel's wink
