With a neighbour like I have I can fully understand why some of us woman prefer to stay solo.
Anyone would think he was my husband. He's cracked the s........s with me.
(He lives in the next unit, not with me)
I have to remove any improvements I have made to this unit or Housing will charge me to have them removed. So I arranged for another guy who lives not far away but in similiar units to buy it off me and take it down himself. Well, he actually approached me wanting to buy it.
When I told neighbour, 3 or 4 days ago, He screamed abuse at me and slammed the door in my face. Hasn't spoken to me since. I have no idea why, he has been so helpful all the years we have lived next door to each other.
In amongst the choice words he used he did say there was no way housing would remove it. So I went into their office this morning and asked them. They said Yes everything I have added in the years I have been there will be removed and I will be charged for it.
I hate the idea of leaving on a sour note, Its so sad.
Cripes Marj, just as well your moving on, your better off out of there.. I had pschyco nurses and two police vehicles over the road from my place today, a woman in there had gone banana's, she already had problems.

Hi, don't worry about them. pack up and move on. You will always find someone who is out to make your day as miserable as theirs. just ignore them. rocket n strop
Marj it is true what rocket said, move on..........he is quite obviously jealous that you have a life and are moving on and living it to the fullest. You go girl..........
Well Marj, just remember the good neighbour as you leave. It certainly seems he's jealous, and maybe even going to miss you. He may have notions of a "friendship" you're not even aware of. Some people don't handle change well. Jealousy can be very destructive, and he may even be a little nervous about the new neighbour likely to move in next door when you're gone. Don't let it upset you. It's his problem, not yours.

I have since heard from another neighbour he has said Depending on who moves in here he might move out. He said it in different words to that which I am not prepared to repeat in here.
Thats where I'm heading now Doug (in my head). Have got it off my chest. Time to move on. Still a bit of packing to do and heaps of cleaning.
Isn't it wonderful to have such good friends on here. I have been offered so much available space to pack my stuff in their vans, I can't express just how much that means to me. A special bunch of peolple.
"What other people think of me is their problem." I don't know who said this but it works for me. While some people can't be avoided, we can at least remain civil ourselves.
Happy travels, there are really good people out there!

Yeah it's funny how some people put hidden conditions and agendas on friendships and it makes it awfully hard for you to second guess. It's such a great thing to share good will and comarardarie as in the grey nomad ethos when you know someone will help you out because they have been there and know what it's like but then quite another when someone is after a little (or a lot) more. Often it's so hard to tell. As the others have said it's his problem. When you give someone a pece of your time and advice yoiu are giving it freely, there is absolutely no obligation on the part of the recipient except to respect the offer and attempt to repay in return if the opportunity arises. Go well and ignore all those silly tantrums and overtures.
Have been waiting all morning for Mr Fence Buyer to pop down with the money. Last night he sent one of his neighbours down to see how easy it would be to remove. Its a 5 min job and I said as soon as Mr Fence Buyer gives me the money you can come take it down. He has been past at least 4 times today but not come near. My gardner came rushing down here about an hour ago. She had asked Mr Fence Buyer if he was buying my fence. He said Yes I was going to but changed my mind. If I wait long enough I can help myself to it as she has to take it down anyway. Well, My gardner and another female neighbour got to work and in 5 mins had the fence down and hidden in my female neighbours garden shed. Just waiting for him to come down and ask where it is. My gardner said she wouldn't mind buying it anyway and Mr Sulky next door never came outside to see what was going on. A win, win situation or me all round. What a saga.
What a scum bag Marj. Waiting for you to go then help himself without any $ changing hands. That's crooked. I'm glad you caught him out and beat him to it. He loses after all, and you'll win. Bewdy! There's more than one way to scam a scammer.

I hope your psychotic, over-reacting neighbour will be ok for the duration until you leave. Some of these people are ok until things change and then they have a brain snap because they can't handle change. Please be careful anyway. I don't mean to alarm you, but the reaction he had to the fence news seems a bit extreme. Packing up to move is hard work if you do it properly. They've been showing vision of public housing here in SA where the tenants have wrecked the house and up and left as it is, complete with rubbish, dirty nappies and old food left on the dishes all over the place. Even the filthy furniture with doggy do etc on it. It's hard to imagine anyone living like that, ever. Have you given yourself a deadline for departure and arrival in Qld?

Hi CG, Thankfully all residents here are in the older age group so none of that sort of shenanigans. Soiled nappies etc. I don't think there will be any trouble with neighbour, he just won't talk and I hand keys in next Monday 2nd April. Head off that day as well. Was hoping to take my time but son not handling the leaving of his ex and kids too well. They left today and he is a mess. I just hope he will be ok till I get there.
Quite a few reasons. My rent is paid up till then and thats the day I had my keys back. Could always do that earlier but people who have bought most of my furniture not picking it up till the Saturday morning. Might get in touch and see if they can get it earlier. Michael coming over end of week to take in his trailer what I can't fit in van, probably Friday. I promised to babysit Deegan for daughter Thursday but I could still get away Friday if I could work the rest out. Was intending to travel with Michael and Norma taking our time and having a break over Easter but if I left Friday I could be there by easter, a lot to work out.
If I were you I'd go on the day as planned. Just talk to your son every day until you get there. You are already changing your life to a huge degree, so it has to work for you in order for you to be helpul to him. You are leaving family behind in Vic to go to Qld so you have to tie up those ends. Take your time. No panic moves now.
