Have you been to your bank about it. If they can sort it out you will usually get that money returned.

This is my point, when we conduct business over the internet. We have no way of knowing how genuine they are or where they are really conducting business, or where our details end up.
It's very scary.

Thats outrageous dusty, go to the police station and report it, then go to the bank. Where is this caravan company, they actually have to bear some responsibility. Tell them you will broadcast it they are not suss, no one will want to deal with them, make them reimburse you, hold the bbb...... to ransom.

Hi All,

Be careful not to confuse this company with Caravans Plus Online Shop who I have found to be very reliable. It's a similar sounding name but to the best of my knowledge is not connected in any way.

Jim

(I have no connection with Caravans Plus or the company mentioned by the original poster.)

if you paid through PayPal you should be able to get your money back.

while on the subject of PayPal, there have been scams running for a while now when you click on a link on a site for PayPal and it takes you to a site that looks like PayPal but is not, PayPal recommend you DO NOT click on these links but instead type in your address bar  http://www.paypal.com.au/au (do not click on this this) do as PayPal said and type it in every time you want to access PayPal.

Dusty Please contact the bank ASAP. Some years ago I had $1200 debited on my credit card for a curry dinner in a Sydney restaurant. Only trouble was I was in Queensland at the time. Bank immediately issued me with a new card & they sorted out th problem. I'm not sure what happened as the matter went to their fraud dept & as the disputed amount was not on my new card I was told it was out of my hands & not to worry about it.

It appears from rockylizard's post that the hacking explanation is the far more likely one and they are as much (or more) the victim as Dusty.

Gday...

Just for interest I went to www.caravanshop.com.au and they have this comment on their site -

Payment & Security
We accept payment by Mastercard, & Visa. NOW OVER THE PHONE ONLY UNTIL UPDATES COMPLETED - 1300 629 869. We can also accept payment by Money Order & Cheque, but this can delay delivery, as we are unable to release goods for delivery until the cheque has cleared

It appears they are now only accepting payment by credit cad over the phone until they update their system.

Perhaps they have reacted to Dusty's predicament.

Cheers

John

Firstly I would never use a Credit card on line. My wife uses a card on line that only has enough to cover the sale & cant be used for credit.

I agree with Jimricho. Have bought from CaravansPlus. Their service is exceptional, fast, efficient.  Definitely a different company.

I buy online with CC regularly and never have a problem. Have also used Paypal without a problem but as others have said, never click on a link. put the address in and go through your own account with them.

You may like to contact the "INTERNET POLICE" as well, they are very helpful.

http://www.afp.gov.au/policing/cybercrime/internet-fraud-and-scams.aspx

I was given good advise and cancelled my credit card.

I hope you sort it out.
