Saves a lot of time when your on the go while I'm setting thing up with the van to leave for our next stop she will get the dream pot ready with that nights meal when we stop dinner is ready setup and eat.
We even use at home it's quite easy to use even I can use it

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with thermal cookers.Are they as good as the advertisements say they are. Is there any brand better than any other
I have an Eco pot but must admit that do not use it very much. When we are on the move we both pack the van up so no time to prepare. Have used it a home to make yogurt, fantasic for that. Think it is one of those appliances that you have to be focused on to use. Yes a great energy saving item if you are prepared to make the time to prepare the meal, I am not that organised and envy those who are.

I have a Thermos "Shuttle Chef". I use regularly at home as well as on the road from time to time. Great for soups stews etc and yes, corned meat as mentioned above. You can use any slow cooker/crockpot recipe.
The Shuttle Chef comes with a very good quality billy (the larger one with two) that can be used anytime a billy is used.
It needs a large quantity recipe to maintain heat (above 60C) all day but if quantity not sufficient to do this just give it a boost on the stove at lunchtime or use the bain marie insert and fill with boiling water to increase the "thermal" volume. The bain marie insert can also be used to cook rice using the method recently suggested using a thermos in the "hints and tips" thread on this forum.
I don't have a hot water system in my little rig and I have used the Shuttle Chef to store some hot water for use for washing up etc.
I'm not sufficiently familiar with other brands of thermal cookers to make any comparative comments.
I use it all the time especially in the winter when driving. I cook breakfast and then while eating I cook the basic for the cooker. Before I leave I seal and put on the floor. I sometimes eat some for lunch but usually leave till tea time. I often make enough for a few meals and just reheat the next day with some extra goodies such as curry etc.
When camped I use by get it cooking in the morning as I usually use a wood fire and then days meals are set when needed. Only need the night fire if required for heat or company.
