Hi Dingo, Debe put me on to this little doosy as we have a instant hot water system,(well installed) and was a just in case thing. Its never gone off. It only dectects co2. had to conevert it to 12 volts. much easier ,and it come on when the shower light is turned on... Dont have a gas dectector as such, the wifes nose is the best gas sniffer .. There are a few on e---bay that cove all gases.. Some costly some not . Good luck with the hunt.... Bob n Bev..
Hi Dingo, I installed a gas detector a couple of years ago and have found it to be Vy reliable. How do I know, well I was doing a check on all of the gas lines and connectors before we started out and released some LPG into the van. The alarm went off and scared the life out of me but it proved the point.
It detects LPG, Nat gas, petrol's, solvents, Methane, etc. it operates off 12 to 24 volts and has led indicators as well as a very loud alarm as mentioned. Cannot remember the cost but I think it was about $70, a very low cost for the security it offers.
Goggle www.hlpcontrols.com.au,product 28
A very good detector.
Hope that helps
Brian

I would query whether a CO (carbon monoxide) detector would detect a (unburned) gas leak as the gas is predominantly Propane not CO (or CO2). CO and CO2 are products of combustion, ie when the gas is burning.
Check with marine suppliers they may have something suitable.

Up Date on gas detector, Looks good ,run test on it and it works fine, real loud and would wake the whole park. The info came in chiness, but they have a english down load on the web page.. Runs on 12volt-or 240 easy to fit, and can be fitted to turn off a solinoide valve.. and has a NO/NC relay..
