fuel con sumpition ford territtory 2005 awd

hi do any know what a 2005 awd ford territory is like on fuel towing a 17ft6 poptop on petrol thanks fred

Not sure of the actual numbers but a friend who has one tells me they are reasonably good when cruising if you stay under about 90kph but when you hit the hills they really suck it in. I had a BF Falcon and that was same engine and was good cruising but thirsty as hell around town and in the hills. Not going to quote numbers from my head because they would be wrong.

We have a 2011 territory ts diesal, rwd.

We get about 850-900 kms to a tank of fuel all up. Surprisingly it does well towing and we get about 10 - 12 litres/100kms- on the flat- takes more on hills etc.

Towing capacity up to about 3 tonnes.

When researching the purchase, we knew this model was planned to make economy gains on the previous petrol territories as it seems to have dome.

Just wondered where you got your info for this veh. I can only find reference to a 75 lt tank and urban use at 11.5 lts/100. That equates to around 600 klms with out van behind and braked towing capacity of 2300kgs. Whilst it boasts quite good power and torque figures for a 2.7lt engine

The figures quoted bt the manufacturer are virtually impossible to achieve. I did a stint at Mitsibishi vehicle development and carried out those sort of tests. They are done to exacting Australian rules under totally controlled conditions and over a measured 1km after settling at the required speed. Not possible to do under normal driving conditions.

2007 territory runs lpg and petrol
LPg towing 1.6ton coromal 4k per litre /25 litres per100
Petrol towing 5k per litre 20 litres per 100

I tow an 18.5 ft full van with a Territory TS AWD and regularly get 17 litres/100. Around town 13.5 l/100. Check the price of an equivalent? diesel of that age, check the difference in price -between diesel and petrol and work out the difference in economy. The Territory wins on comfort, towing ability and economy in my mind.

we have had the 2011 terri gor about 8-9 months.

Our son has a Territory Diesal TS rwd and averages 900km per tank, not much different when towing as he has a jayco Eagle. Think this will be our next tow vehicle as well but will go for the awd as towing capacity slightly higher. Glenda
