It would be a great help to us less travelled if people, when they start a thread, would either in the thread name or in the contents of the thread put where the place they are referring to actually is or at least the state or territory its in.
Cheers
Jon

Totally agree with you Hylda and John. This has been mentioned many times before but some still won't do it. The topic should be in the title or if its a place that should be in the title including which State. It is surprising how many places of the same name are in multiple states.
Ditto. Good point! So who's going to get the ball rolling to set the trend? I have to admit to being confused at times by places named without detail, such as camping sites. Even quoting the site number from Camps book, doesn't clarify too much.

GD looking up maps is not a bad thing, in fact it could save your life in the aussie bush, we all need to know how to read maps and not take the gps as perfect, cos it ain't

maybe Cindy could put a note at the bottom of her Welcome to the Grey Nomads Forum post, just mention that it would be nice to say what state the topic is in

Wombat, you have long ears plus I didn't know wombats eat carrots but I spose carrots are.......nope, not saying any more.
I't not nice how people go OFF topic as well, just like I have done.
BUT
To get back on topic,
Greens Lake (Near Bendigo Victoria)....
I think that is what you all mean??

Thats right Doug, but its just not the name of places that make topics confusing. The heading on a thread needs to be more explanatory. eg. Without getting picky.lol Hylda&Jon could have put in their heading "Please explain more in your title" Instead of "Where". Then none of us would get confused, hopefully!!
I've noticed that people use the Camps 6 reference number but don't mention which state they are referring to. Isn't there a similar number in each state? So I agree with Hylda and Jon - please at least say which state so we can find it.

Yes the numbers are repeated for differant state's perhaps, VIC,SA,WA,NT,QLD,NSW,TAS in the heading would help
As a retired journo and now a recreational writer I could conduct courses in writing headlines. Let the heading introduce the topic and tell the story. It makes a great reference point, and when searching later it also specifies the nature of the topic. Some headings are extremely misleading and give no hint as to the topic below it.
