Another Solo Newbie

Hi my name is Chris (Christine) and I am hoping to hit the road in a couple of months as a solo traveller.  I have a 1998 Winnebago Freeway and have almost finished bringing her up to date with all the latest techo stuff.  It has been 2 years since she was on the road and it has been a long and frustrating wait, but all the work has been done on weekends only and by a good friend who hasn't charged me for labour.  The old girl is pretty spiffy now with solar panels and all the good Led stuff and cameras etc.  (I tend to forget about the front sticking out bit and get myself tangled in gutters etc.) Yep I'm a woman driver, but she is a big girl and I'm used to driving a small car.  Hope to see you on the road sometime.  By the way, "fantstic" forum, I have been glued to the laptop all day reading the posts.

Cheers!

Chris

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum.  I am sure that you will enjoy your time with us.  We have a few members who live up your way and one on Maggie Island, so that should be of help to you if you need some guidance.

Cheers, Helen

Welcome from me too Chris, enjoy here and out there.

I will be in Townsville all next week and looking forward to it. I will be staying at Big4 Woodlands, very nice park, I have stayed there a few times now.

Hey that's good Beth maybe I will call her "Aunty Winnie". I can't be that old if I still have an Aunty.

I still hav e a few Aunts & Uncles left, so I can't be that old either. Alas, Aunty Winnie passed several years ago.

I thoroughly approve of christening her 'Aunty Winnie' Chris!

By the way Chris, my grand-daughters birthday is the same day as yours! smile

Thanks guys, like me she is no spring chicken but I love her anyway. She is definitely a "she" (dependable, reliable, always there for me, etc. etc.) No name really, just always called her "Winnie". Guess I will have to get my thinking cap on and think of a suitable name. Any suggestions gratefully received.
Cheers!

Winnie sounds good to me. I had an Aunty Winnie who was a lovely lady.

I was born in the north of England so I think I was the result of my Dad returning from the War. At least here the weather in usually good in September. (good for your Grand daughter's birthday parties).
Cheers!

 Chris

Winnie would be a fantastic name. We had a Jack Russell called Winnie and she was the most loyal and adorable dog.  Also think of Winnie Mandella, stong and independant just like our female solo travellers.

Cheers

Glenda

Well gee, don't feel silly. I was obviously being a little dislexic when I read your birthdate. Grand-daughter is 9/6, not 6/9! disbelief

Welcome Chris to the forum, you will love it here. I love your Winnie, I will also be looking for a Winnie when my turn comes. I told me boys that when it happens I was going to call it Winnie and then we decided that maybe Pooh might be a little different. So maybe one day down the track we will meet up park next to each other and there will be Winnie the Pooh sitting in a free camp somewhere sharing a champers under a tree.

Safe travels.

Sharon.

Your rig reminds me of a Coaster bus at Salisbury, here in Adelaide.
It's all set to go and across the back is written "Wannabebago". I love it.

Welcome Chris this is a great site with great people.   I think you are very brave driving such a large rig (compared to my little a'van camper) it looks great, would love to see some picks of the inside.

Great to hear you came from the north of England, I'm a pom too born in Newcastle area and emigrated to Brisbane in 1978, best desicion I've ever made lol

Hope I meet you on the road some day, I'm currently grounded in Melbourne but hope to head off again on a big trip next year
