Tuneing the Vast TV..

you only need that channel when you first tune the vast decoder so that the people at VAST can see your unit while they register your unit, or can you turn up your volume and use that channel to tune in your dish?

Wombat, hi and greetings from Kiwi. Are you able to give me a ball park figure to set a van up with a Vast system, you seem very knowlegable (thats a big word for a kiwi) on the subject. At the moment we just have the standard Winegard set up and is very hit and miss.

Thanks Mate, Brandt.

have a look here

http://www.satplus.com.au/

they have a place in Qld, but they mostly deal online and they deliver bloody fast

on that site you will find an area for caravan setup's, one thing do not accept the dish that sits on the ground tell them you must have one that fits on a tripod, you may have to pay extra for a tripod, also the sat finder they supply is not that great so get one from eBay

this is the one I use http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-5-Color-Digital-TV-Signal-Sat-Satellite-Finder-Meter-/280804679820?pt=AU_Electronics_Radio_Equipment&hash=item416143608c

$675 for this setup http://www.satplus.com.au/products/MiniMax-Portable-VAST-Sat-TV-Kit.html

Bob, have you seen these units?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-5-Color-Digital-TV-Signal-Sat-Satellite-Finder-Meter-/280804679820?pt=AU_Electronics_Radio_Equipment&hash=item416143608c&clk_rvr_id=335559820663

You only need a short cable from this sat finder to the dish and it shows on the screen of this unit what you would get when the tv is tuned, you then connect the cable to the decoder and the picture is then showing on you tv.

Hi Wombat, yes they are great and at a good price, I used to line up sky dishes in pubs with a mate, and still have my old unit that cost a arm and a leg then. Its good to see all this stuff now and how it makes life easy when setting up your dish. and so cheep...
I saw the new channel on the sat forum and thought it would be good to pass it on... It should have been there when it first came on line... The same should be for recording from your set top box, its a joke.. Wont go there..
Bob....

Hi Bob, only takes a couple of mins to set up the dish with the unit I have, it really annoys me when sat tv places sell the kit with stuff that does not do the job easy, they only do that to keep the price down, I have set up hundreds of dishes in caravan parks for people who have this unsuitable equipment, most are frustrated and give up, take the dish home and put it in the garage never to be seen again, I have lost count of the times people have told me that story, but when they see my sat finder and see how fast and easy is is to setup they ask where can they get one.

Hi Wombat

We are one of those that could not pick up the satellietes with our silly triangle dish that sits on the ground so we had installed the Alden Satelliete System, expensive yes, but who cares now my dear sweet wife can just push the on button and within 40 secs she has a brilliant pic, best thing we have bought for the Van,I know there will be knockers out here but again so what we are very happy indeed

If you are happy with what you got then that is all that matters, they are expensive but they do a great job, I would just ignore the knockers if I were you, what works for you is all that matters, enjoy your tv.

For those that are interested here is Hydeeeho's Alden Sat System
