We have spent the last 4 days at Calliope, Qld. What a great place, beautiful river nearby, loverly setting and even though there was about 60 or so campers in every form you could imagine it was very well conducted by all that we're there. We were on the top side as its layout is better that down right on the river. An issue that has arisen is that while it's listed as 48 hrs there were some that had been there for about about 8 days. It appears that the local council has allowed this provided that the place is kept tidy, etc as the caravan parks nearby are so full of mine and associated works in the area there is no space for the travelers. Talking with some of those camped with us it appears that problem is just getting bigger and bigger over most of Qld and I suspect NSW as well. FaIr to say, I think this will be the norm for a while to come.
Stay safe

Yes briche, found that caravan parks in the area are chockers too... even cheap spots like behind the service station at Bauhinia were full of permanent workers. A bloke who lives in Emerald told us the fly-in fly-out system is ruining the small communities, they dont buy anything in the local towns any more, its all flown in daily. And real estate/rental costs have gone through the roof. Its a worry, and in such a lot of places.
Thanks for the heads-up on Calliope, have put it on our list for future trips.
