An interesting website

YOURS OR ANY ADDRESS ALL OVER THE WORLD!!!!

Much faster than Google  Earth.
Now this might scare the heck out of you . . . . it's  unbelievable technology.
After opening the link below, type in the address you want  slowly,
letter by letter, space by space, and watch each time where it  takes you.

Then, briefly wait.

It can't be up to date images they are using. I went into my old address in Echuca. The huge tree beside my unit was still there in the image. But it was cut down about two weeks before I left leaving a open space.
Went into this address, it only shows one house below this house where in reality there are two.

Use the little icon in the top LH corner to swing the view around.

PS: This is a Google Maps add-on and uses the Google Street-view photos. Mine's a bit out of date too.

Try this site,it's generally more up to date and you can pick dates in the past.

Say pre Brisbane flood last year and then post flood.

It was posted here earlier, and you have to join/register as a member of the public, but it is free.

I'm glad it doesn't get it exactly right. A bit scary really. All too much like 'big brother' when you see your husband in the front yard in a blue singlet!! I'd say they're about 3 years old. At least they block out the number plates.

Yeah Bob. What lawn?
Most of these are old satellite photos. I checked a Broome caravan park and it shows my Landcruiser in front of my old van. I bought the car in 2004 and the new van in 2006.
I checked this caravan park and the photo is definitely more than 2 years old.
It's not live vision.

hahaha CG... not like the bloke who kept seeing this red car in his driveway every day when he checked google earth... He went home and had a blue with his missus because he thought she'd been having a regular visitor while he was at work..

This site is just another way of addressing Google Maps. The database for GM is the same one used for GE. This makes the two just as out of date as each other. GM has always been faster to access than GE. Also, importantly for those on a slow connection or small data limited accoune, DM requires less data download then GE.

If you go to http://maps.google.com.au/maps then type your address into the search you get a pointer on the map where the address is located. Then use the street view to view what you wish. If you have the Google Search page up you can also go to Maps by clicking on Maps up the top RHS (or right clicking on Maps and select "Open in new tab."

I had a good play with it too. It must have been curbside pickup day...there's junk on the footpath. And the yard definitely needed mowing! biggrin
