Redhead Matches

Are most of you familiar with the Swedish (This is Tongue in cheek) safety Matches 45's  I remember 30 Years ago when I smoked they were thicker and were60 I think in a box...Well I had a reason to use one the other day and I went through7 matches 5 had broke in half and I found them to be so dangerous....How are they allowed to sell those things.....

Ps I was trying to light a gas lamp

Jimbo Redhead matches now put out an extra long and thicker match which would be good for lighting a gas lamp. There are 45 in a pack and they are over 90mm long. A serious lot of burning there. I used one to light the candles on a cake - when there are a lot it saves burning your fingers. Gerty, they still have the glamourous red headon the pack too! I picked them up at the big B hardware store for about $1.25??

I agree with you Jimbo,  they are dangerous. The waterproof green coloured ones are deadly, Often parts of the green head fly off when you light them, and can land a couple of yards away unless they hit someone first. I think your 30 year old matches may have been the Federal brand, and an Ozzie company had 50 in a box.
