Pop Top versus A Van Cruisliner

Hi Chrissy and Mal, welcome from me too, enjoy here and out there.

As you can see by my av I have a Avan Camper, only the "Sportliner", the baby of the family.

I love my Avan Camper for it's size, I don't need a lot of space as I am solo. I found after a couple of short trips I lacked bench space and found I didn't need the table so made a few changes I have attached a couple of photo's for you.

The main thing I find with the Sportliner is it is close to the ground and I would like another couple of inches clearance but them's the break.

I am also not sure how it would go on rough roads for long time BUT the "Cruisliner" may be different in both those areas. It's actually very surprising how much room is in these things and I proved to a group of people about a month ago at Lakes Entrance, Vic. that they do only take 30 seconds to put up or down, they were all in shock.

I use the Awning but not the sides, I find I don't need them, the awning is enough for me anyway.

New to this so hope I am getting this right.   Have been on the road 6 months and have had our fair share of problems both mechanically and nature driven.   We have been thinking about trading the pop top for a AVan Cruisliner for its manauverability  and have done some research, but there is so much against this type of trailer and the same amount of cons for it that we are totally confused.  We mainly bush camp and was wondering what others that have an Cruisliner find.  Interested in your thoughts.   We have just had a complete new power system fitted in ours that does our needs thanks to Mr. Jayco and I have heard that this is one of the problems that cruisliner has and the shoddy workmanship in the carpentary.  Also the annex isn't as good as the sales people make it out to be.  Your thoughts please.....

Chrissy and Mal

Hi milo, I have had it in some rough weather and all was ok, so far anyway. I don't think it would be standing after a cyclone though, in fact, it would be gone to god.

Hi Gypsychris,

We have the Sportsliner the same as Doug we have never had a problem with it in fact very happy with it we go away every year for about 3 to 4 months we use the full annexe as there are two of us and it gives us an extra room but I guess when it comes down to it, it is a matter of personal choice what is good for some people is maybe not so good for others. Good luck with it all whatever you chose enjoy your time on the road. Hey and welcome to the site Helena.

Chrissy and Mal,
While I don't have a Cruiseliner friends are happy with theirs.
While more manoverable that are not as rommy as a Pop Top.
In you OP you posted  things that worried you aboutr a Cruisleiner.
If you're not 110% positively absolutely sure, then don't do it.
Ozjohn.

Hi Gypsychris and welcome. Found this on google. dosn't have very much good to say about the cruiseliner. Worth a read before spending on one.  http://www.productreview.com.au/p/a-van-cruiseliner.html

I checked out the review and don't agree with most of it. I don't have any of those problems in my "Sportliner". Yet anyway. Haven't had need to experience post sales yet so will see about that at a later date I spose but I have heard of one person with a minor problem but then another person couldn't be happier with after sales.

Yes this is the site that I read also, and is the one that set alarm bells ringing and the fact that I have looked at a few newer models and they just lack something.  I will never understand why they use foam as a mattress when you spend so much money on a new one.  Personal choice is what it come down to I know that.   Many thanks again  Chrissy
