The press release that I read stated the the payment was with your first payment after that date , so I would think it would come with your first pension payment after that date not on the 28/05/12

I wonder how far it will go. If parks put up their price by $1 a day, petrol goes up by 1c a litre, power by 1c a kilowatt, bread by 1c a loaf, potatoes by 1c a kilo etc. etc. $250 will not last long.

Not too far tezza, mine will go towards solar panels, thats green energy enough for me.
We also get a pension increase of a few dollars a week but that doesn't start till next year, I think March.

hmmm ... not being on a pension myself, and not getting ANY govt assistance at all - living solely of savings and now my super "pension" - I got a feeling I'm not gunna see a single cent, yet in many ways I'm worse off than many who will get a payment. Sux to be me.

This payment I believe is a one off payment to soften the blow for the start up then from the 1 st. july there will be and increase in the pension to off set increase in cost .Before I turned 65 We also live off our super but when you turn 65 centrelink are very helpful and give you a pension depend on your situation on how much but it around $932000 before you get nil pension, we do live in a lucky country first to have good super which allow us to stop work early if we want to and then top us up at aged 65 if we need it

Well I'm hoping we get something as we both missed out on the $900 incentive a few years back.

Just found this on the centrelink website. I did see somewhere else how much it was going to be, not sure how much but think it was about 10.00 - 12.00 a fortnight.

Looking at the full couples rate of $338 that's a whopping 46 cents each per day.
WOW! We'll have to set up an appointment with a Finacial Adviser to see how we can spend or invest it.

Hi! I'm Wayne Swan, I'm from the Government, and I'm here to help you.
Yeh! Right.

Depends on what pensions you are on now Jon. Are you on a singles pension or joined as a couple for a pension?

I'n on a single disability pension but it dropped close to $200 a fortnight when we moved in together after we got back from our trip & Hylda wasn't even earning any income then or recieving any benefits because she isn't an Aussie citizen. I still had to support both of us on a cut pension of $450 a fortnight and pay for the morgage at the same time so, after that Gov money grab, nothing will surprise me.

Cheers

Jon

The way I see it Jon, you should still get what other singles on Disability get which is 250.00. I certainly hope I'm right for your sake.
Gosh there are some mean govt departments around aren't there?

I noted it said 'FROM' $190 for each person in a couple for pensioners. I'm not a pensioner (or anything else) so we only expect 'from' $190 which is probably less than $190.
