Hi Doug,

Would usually be around but a house sitter for a while so off North to catch up with some friends.

You will love up here.Nights frosty but usually nice sunny days.Lots to see etc.

suggest free camp by the river Red cliffs area-some quiet spots not far from town.down near the pumps station

Thanks AJ.

Thanks for that Mary, it sounds a great spot but I am not set up for free camping just yet, besides I need power to run my little column heater because cold and me just do not go together. I can't handle it too hot as well, must be getting older I think, that's my excuse.

No comment Dazren. 12 indeed.

It looks like I have to extend a couple of days to fit the visits to family in. I can't stay too long as I have to keep some penny's so I can go back up to Townsville again in Mid August. It shouldn't be as hot as when I was there in April. In fact it should be peeeeerfect.

Hi Doug, we will be housesitting in Mildura then and would welcome the opportunity to meet. We have been here for a few weeks already and were here for 4 months 4 years ago and like the place so much we are looking for a house to buy while we are here this time.

Thanks mate, main problems are further East but we have had more than our share of flooded roads and roads closed. A lot of farm land is flooded around here too. I've had enough and Winter has just started. Still, I'm booked to go to Mildura for a week now and Mid August off up to Townsville for a week. I had a look in the Diary at work this morning for bus bookings in August and they will have to do without me for a week. Sorry work.

I had to quickly make up my mind if I go or not this morning, I found out that there is some big bike thing in Mildura 6,7,8 June. Bummer. My Brother will be happy I am going up anyway.

Neighbours of ours tell us that the Caravan Park at Marong, on the Alternative Calder Hwy that Bypasses Bendigo, is a good basic park which would be about half way to Mildura for you.  Looks OK when we have driven pass returning from Swan Hill. Family Parks chain from memory.

There is an excellent Bakery about 25km west of Marong at Bridgewater On Loddon which we never drive past. It is a big old building, one of the last on the right as you head west out of town. Bridgewater also has a 2 Caravan Parks but know nothing about them.

BTW your OP talks of 6th July and your last post says 6th June so I am a little confused and feel that maybe you are already on your way as I post this.

Hi Ron and Shirley, thanks for all the info, I will check out Marong when I finish here, I was thinking stopping overnight at Wedderburn.

I better check my booking now cos it's July not June that I am going, although today is the 6th so I must have booked July. Sorry to confuse you and any others. I'm always confused lately. How would you like to be on a bus that I'm driving? I actually drive many different buses and can be in 3 different buses in one day, that's when I get real confused, I often have to think now, what job am I doing in this bus.

You might find Bob and Betty home up there at that time. Check them out by PM here.

Hi Doug, did you mean 6,7,8 July not June? We're in Mildura now but sorry won't be there in July. Hope the cold wind has gone by the time you get here.

Hi Neilnruth, Yes July, I will be there till the 11th now. I hope the wind has gone as well. This will be my first time out in the cold in my Avan but I do have a small heater for the nights so I'm not too worried about that. At least I will be away from home and the day to day grind. I am booked into the Big4 at the West coner of Fifteenth and Dean Streets
