i think my car (2004 mazda 2) battery may be too flat
ie read my other post on i digress..
if its just flat how long should you put it on charge?
i think this is my second battery in the car in 8 years..
milo
Get onto it pretty quick Milo. After a certain point, you'll lose all your radio etc and have to re enter codes. (Pain in the proverbial if you can't find them). If you've got a trickle charger, up to 12 hours should be enough. Take off the cell caps (for venting) and check every couple of hours to ensure that it's not 'bubbling over'. Remember that the gases produced are semi explosive so don't smoke around it and charge i a well ventilated area (preferably outside). For what it's worth.
If You have only had 2 batterys in 8 yrs, then its probably time for a new one. Jump starting it & going for a long drive will not re charge it enough. A trickle charger will probably need at least 24Hrs to recharge it. The longer a starting battery is left flat then the less likely it will recover due to sulphation. If its a Calcium battery then a trickle charger will not re charge it.
i found the date on the battery , 2007 whas when i got it, so waiting on a friend to come over and go battery hunting, will take it with me too , to make sure i get the right one..
well, new battery in old one out, got a discount for trading in the old battery too still $100 for a tiny mazda 2 battery, wonder what there like for motor homes and coasters etc ?
thanks all for the help,
milo out.. ( now to snuggle up by the heater and watch tv)
