We also were going to hold off till next year, but at that price,I thought, buy it now,and use the online Camps Australia website to keep it Updated.
Checking it out,I found It allows Updates for 4 years, after each edition of the Book, probably kick ourselves, after the next edition, with possibly lot's more info.............. that's life.
Is the only difference being that they give you pictures of the campsites? If so ,is it worth paying the extra for the pics ? We don't freecamp very often but thought it handy to have. Cheers Jill
Yes it is Jill and yes IMO it is definitley worth the extra for the snaps....it just gives you a rough idea of the place you might be looking for.
Maybe after purchasing your Camps book you just might like to free camp more.
BTW, your local Auto Club should also have the Camps books for a discounted price too

Hi John, Just went onto ebay and they have camp6 book on there for $49 and the camp6 snapshot one at $88,we have never brought one and was wondering what the difference is? Is the only difference being that they give you pictures of the campsites? If so ,is it worth paying the extra for the pics ? We don't freecamp very often but thought it handy to have. Cheers Jill
We had Camps 4 with pics and have Camps 6 without. We haven't really missed the pics - and we found in a few cases the picture was not right anyway. Personal choice. Another reason I prefer without is that it makes the book slightly smaller for handling. There are only a few changes from year to year and this trip I found it good to compare with someone else and find the changes.
I get the one without the pics only because I'm tight. I'm sure the pictures would be worth the extra if you find them helpful though. It does make for a big book.
I have the basic Camps 6, my sister has the snaps one. I don't think I'd bother paying the extra. If I really want to know what it looks like, I just Google Earth the camp.
I received my new Camps 6 book with snaps on Friday. I bought it through RACQ at a cost of $75.00. (normally $89 for non members) The RACQ was the best deal I could find. Love it and the pics do give you some indication of what the campsite looks like. (Hope the pics are fairly recent and accurate though)
We purchased the Camps 5 book (without pictures )a couple of years back from a local Newsagent, the price at that time was $55.00, being cheaky,I asked what the price was for an old Gereatic like myself, with-out a second thought the Nice looking young Bird said....... How does $45.00 sound, sold I said.
That book had saved us more than it's cost by the time we reached Melbourne from perth by telling where the free camps were,
We then spent 4 months touring around Tasmania, using the book there we estimated it saved us another $550 - $600 by not having to use caravan parks every night.
As far as we are concerned, this book should be called "The Travelers Bible"

I got the Camp 6 with pics from Anaconda a few months ago at 30% off so instead of $89 it was about $63. Well worth it and I cant wait to be out on the road using it.
