Shower Waste

Not long ago I asked about sullage waste etc now I'm asking about shower Tents. Do you have a large container inside that you stand in and collect the water  when you shower or is there no floor in them that it seeps away ? confuse

PS  Hand in my notice this week and we ready to gobiggrin

Just been reminded that we have grandchild No 6 and we have to baby sit

No's 4 & 5 !smile

Could be worse could be still workingdoh

Regards

Brian

I would say both Brian. I have one but haven't used it yet. They say the better one is not to have a floor in it. Takes a lot longer to dry it out for folding away. Perhaps some sort of mat to stand on up off the ground and also a foot sized bowl to capture the water. If you are using a 12 volt shower it would be in that bowl and recycling the water. You could stand in it or to the side of it. I have an oblong one that I would stand in. I also thought I could initially put the water in my washing bucket and have the shower pump in there and ending up in the foot bowl.
There are a number of ways you could do it to suit your situation.

When out bush we just stood on a wooden slatted rack. In a cp we stood in a large bowl bought at the cheap shop. The other thing we found helpful was to position the toilet tent in the door of the annex. Gave us much more privacy and was easier to step out wrap the towel around and head into the van to dress.
Enjoy your new life. Hopefully we will be in that position soon.

We use an iprimus shower in a box cost's around $45 from camping shops and both of us can shower using 10 litres of water

When there are still winging caravan parks owners that still dont have a sullage system for the greasy wash up water that are located within the town boundries , that would be under council regulations then I dont see a problem with shower water going on the ground when free camped.

we bought a small blow up pool, the one they sell at kmart for about 12.00 with plastic balls in them... we put it down on a rubber camping mat so it does not get holes in it, them when we've showered we can pump the water back into our 20 litre container then wecan recycle if needed :)

We use a perforated rubber mat on the floor of the shower tent and just let the water run away.

We have at times done both of Amanda Janes and Ozjohns methods. Found the "Kids pool" a bit tricky to empty back into a bucket afterward, but in some places you really cant leave a muddy mess.

I've used the perforated rubber mat too. I take a big towel with me, and just wrap it round when I'm finished, and get dressed indoors. I've had a few near misses with trying to get dressed in the shower tent...either dropping undies on the ground doh or losing my balance and nearly toppling the tent over and giving the family a show they'd never forget! disbelief

Don't ban the shower tents!!  They're great entertainment watching people fall out of them, tent blowing over, running out of water whilst shampoo is still in their hair etc.

I agree Wombat. Only time Gary and I had an argument on a trip a few years ago was when we tried to fold the damn thing away. Gave up in the end. Hence bought a van with a shower.

My son is hopeless at folding it up. Daughter-in-law does it in seconds. I've only had to use mine once and had no problem.

they are easy to fold once you see it done, how I wish these sale people in camping shops knew how to do it (fold the shower tent is what I mean) some of them do know but most do not.

can be done with one person but if you have two people it is easier, once it is laying flat on the ground one person at each end holds the ST and turns it in opposite directions and it will collapse into the round bag shape.

We were thinking of having a Shower tent folding Competition at the Heartwood Music Festival, there were quite a few people with the same problem, some just folding the darn thing in half and threw it into the back of their utes !!!!!!! hahahahaha

We are still using the canvas shower cubicle I had made long before those shower tents were thought of; & no trouble to fold up.
