We are staying at CP for a few days to catch up with a friend but after that we will need to move. Does anyone if the Cairns showgrounds is available for a week or two

Hello Brian We are at the Lake Placid c/p and leaving tomorrow for Babinda,as the van park is fully booked. I thought the showground was closed ?? If not may look at going there Ken
Thank you and all. I found out after I had posted that the showgrounds is closed to camping. Spoke to some people who were setting up a stall at a super market to sell show tickets that it closed to camping, decision make by the council. So there goes another one, guess we will have to look elsewhere.

We stayed a weekend at Cairns Showgrounds in April. This was the week of local elections & although we were allowed to stay there for a couple of days (We were told to look as if we belonged to a dog club that were parked up there for some dog trials) they also said they had an application into the council to be allowed to have campers in but it was being delayed because of new council taking over. Not sure if their application ever was approved.
Yep, we were parked up with you too, we were right next to the KC show ring.
Sadly, there is still no camping permitted at the show-ground, unless you are a showie or KC exhibitor.
Like so many other show grounds around the country who used to allow short-stay camping, it's believed most councils have now had to desist due to the pressures and protestations from certain CP owners.
Nuff said, lets not go there It causes loss of sleep!

The Cairns show is on from 17/7 to 20/7 plus a couple of days set up time and a couple of days clean up hope this helps
