Congratulations, it is exciting for you to get you first van. Definitely suggest you go for several short trips before you head off on the big one, you will find heaps of things you thought were essential aren't actually needed, while others that never occurred to you are required.

Thanks Nicholstones, we plan on doing some mini trips but have to wait until my mum goes home lol as we will be mother sitting for 8 weeks as of next Friday.  Will put some pics of our new abode when we take possession of it.

Michelle

you could sneek out at 0400 and go for a drive with the van before mum gets up biggrinbiggrin just like you did when you were a teenager biggrinbiggrin although it may have been a case of getting home at 0400 biggrinbiggrin

Would it be possible to go away for a few days, taking Mum with you and organise a cabin for her to stay in next to or very near your cp site? Even if you slept in the cabin with her while your husband slept in the van. Not very satisfactory I know, but it would at least enable you to have a go at towing and setting up.

I agree with Nicholstones Michelle, that is a great idea and one I reckon would work for you all.

If it is advice he's looking for I will refer him to our Knowledgeable wombat,  as I NEVER give advice !

After 40 years in the Industrial sales game,     mainly selling to the Petroleum and Chemical Industries, You soon learn, never to give advice ?? I will give ''Opinions'' and I will give ''Suggestions''

Michelle asked me for an Opinion, and I looked at all the Info she gave me, and passed on My Humble opinion ?? Based on If I was in her position, and wanted a 23' van ?? would i buy that one ? yes I would.

And if Dougwe wants my opinion on something i would be glad to give it to him, I know he is on holidays and i am stuck here ''househunting'' but i don't hold grudges forever. and if he needs an opinion on how to combat Michelle and Wombat, for trying to always put him in the naughty corner, Then as a friend, I must assist him ??smiledisbeliefconfusesmilenoconfuse I;m confused. biggrin

Thanks everyone for your well wishes.  The van arrives today as the people are personally delivering it to us from Parkes.  We went down to Sydney on Monday and picked our tug up on Tuesday and drove back to Inverell on Wednesday.  I didn't enjoy the trip one little bit because stupid me thought I had packed my pain meds but actually left them on the counter.  I only had enough for the first day.  My daughter went to the chemist and the only thing he could sell her over the counter was mysendol (sp) and he told her that if I was on heavy does of Tramel then this would only slightly help.  Well that was all it did do.  I was the very worst passenger on the trip home and I apologised to Ray before we even started by saying "Hun I am apologising now for being a bitch on the way home ok" lol.  By the time we reached the outskirts of Inverell I was crying saying I couldn't take it anymore.  Man what a drama queen I was being but I wanted to pull my eyeballs out the pain was so bad lol.  I can laugh now but I wasn't on Wednesday night.

Now that I am human again the tug is awesome and I am patiently walking around the house fussing with things at the moment waiting for the van to arrive. . . will have pics when it does.

Michelle

Adden:  They just rang and the van will be here in half an hour. . .far too much excitement for one day.

Hi BG, good to hear you are getting it all together and will soon be on your way.

Here's a tip for your drug problem, biggrin also handy if you are on the road for a long time, go into a hospital emergency dept and show them your tablet box from your chemist and ask them to phone your Dr and get a script faxed to them and they will give you your tablets.

OR

go to a local chemist explain you have run out of tabs and ask if you can get your Dr to fax a script to them, normally they say ok, (get their fax number) then phone your Dr and arrange for them to send the fax to the chemist, when you go back to the chemist he/she will have your tabs waiting for you.

I suggest the latter would be quicker, knowing how long one has to wait at ED.

I feel for your pain Michelle. I'm in pain too at the moment, but I'm sure it's nowhere near as bad as yours.

If only it was that easy Beth.  My pain meds are the type that have to get the special authorisation from Canberra and they monitor it carefully to make sure you are not abusing the meds.  So it would have been a major hassle to get the approval for a start lol.  I was between a rock and a hard place lol.

Pain is pain Beth don't downgrade your pain chick especially if has you at your pain threshold hmmhmm I know you understand my pain because you are in the same pain boat.

BG, getting authorisation from Canberra is only a matter of your Dr making a phone call to Canberra and putting the authorisation number on the script he writes then faxes to a chemist near your destination.

BTW most chemist also require your Dr to post the origianl script to them asap, just so they have the original paperwork they require.

In answer to your question Michelle....yes I believe the Westport is the earlier model before the Heritage was released.  Congratulations on the new purchase.
