Not so much a recommendation, but advice of the closure of another park, to make way for the mining folk.
The Capricorn Roadhouse on the Great Northern Highway, WA, near Newman has closed the caravan park space and made lots of room to develop accommodation for mining personnel.
BHP has a huge accommodation complex next door, and the roadhouse is currently accommodating mine construction workers.
There is a huge truck park and improved fuel facilities. The washing machines and dryers are free. Yes, that's right, FREE!
I believe the new owner is redeveloping the main roadhouse and providing more than the current 4 showers, mainly for the use of we transport workers. So the caravan park, powered sites are gone.
Newman, 10kms up the road is also chock a block with mining folks, and there doesn't seem to be too much space left for tourists.
Fortunately, this region of WA has a wide variety of free parking bays for overnight stop overs.
