RE: How Hard Has It All Become........

That just demonstrates the stupidity to which this country's work laws have become.
I'm a sub-contractor, self-employed. I'm told I should have public liability insurance in case I instruct a motorist how to negotiate the wide load I'm escorting and something goes wrong, and the motorist gets injured and the car is damaged.
When does everyone involved everywhere start to take responsibility for their own actions????? They even challenge the Police Escort driving up the wrong side of the road to convice the idiot to make room.
Blind Freddy would know he'd have to make room for the wide load on the same road, wouldn't he?
I have business insurance and registration on my vehicle.
It's all going too far.
I believe everyone is responsible for their own actions. I do my job to the best of my ability according to all the manuals, and working with the truck driver. Most are very responsible, but there are still a few irresponsible cowboys out there operating bloody huge heavy machines with a lot of horses and wheels.
There are a few motorists and nomads out there who believe they have equal rights to the road shared with an 8.5 metre load, because they've paid the registration. Good luck with that challenge.
I have tickets to be a pilot in Qld, WA, Traffic Manager and Controller and the White Card. All acquired since turning 60.
Am I good or what? Actually, please allow me to be a little bit proud of my achievements in retraining myself and accessing pilot work.

A very good effort, a more mature person not withstanding.   You're right about those who think they can fit past something that's going to grind them under without noticing.   Even if they did have right of way, one doesn't argue with something that big (International Law LOL).   Just remember "Nil Desperandum Illigitomos Carborundum" as Shakespeare once said.   (I think it was The Bard).
