I tend to agree Snap, but I don't let that worry me. I have met some great people as well and they make up for it. Also, we all travel for different reasons and I respect the right of others to choose if & who they want to socialise with.
I would also be the first to agree I tend to be a bit shy and maybe should be a bit more forthcoming but thats me. My rig is basic but I'm happy with it and it certainly gets me about! I hold the view that what other people think of me is their problem
You're out there obviously because you made that choice, enjoy your decision! And if you see a HiAce with "Loki" on the back, say G'day!
I've been travelling alone for about three weeks now and I do feel very lonely sometimes, especially when I see people gathered around having drinks in the afternoon.
I have a little poodle which helps break the ice when I am walking around with him and I have met some lovely people to chat to, but when it comes to asking people if I can join in, I just feel too shy to approach them.
I am in Townsville at the moment and I have had contact with Gypsy Rover who has kindly offered to take me sightseeing tomorrow.
If you're going to 1770, or Agnes Water, you turn right at the railway bridge at Lowmead [just north of Rosedale,] to go through to Baffle Creek, and Rules' Beach.
Hi SNAP; I am travelling full time and alone.......and on a pension.
Like you I find that people are not so friendly....especially the couples.
my rig is extremely basic but is a challenge to make it all work for me.
I was hoping to meet more solos but it isn't happening so I get on one day at a time.......always something to do here in my camp and I walk and take photos.
If there are other campers I say Hi! but they are not interested so I go on my way.
There are more of us out here every month so we are bound to be able to meet up with others now and then.
This is so sad, when solos are out there and not meeting anyone at all. I do go through the same. Since the Gympie camp and up until my friends parked out here I virtually talked to no one except the lovely Gerty Dancer and her partner. And I am at home itching to get out there again. Not to have company of my own age I find hard. I keep telling others on here what to do meet people but there are always times when I am in the same boat. But I will keep saying If you are not in the same areas you are just not going to meet anyone. Everyone has gone north for the winter so unlikely to meet many down beside the Murray river at this time. Don't worry about the couples who don't want to be friendly. Maybe they have gone to the secluded area to have privacy and don't want to be disturbed, who knows. If it wasn't for this forum and others so I could chat I think I would die of boredom.
Howdyeeeee Nomads excited and not so excited ppl , Salutations B Boomers,,,Well Marj jump in U Van ,we r in Townsville till Monday, will wait for U..... ,heheehheh, stay excited Happy, I keep saying this!!!!!! We only get one shot at life ,just DO IT ....now.....c U all out there in the fun play ground,,,,,,Billeeeee......
Yay - come on up Marje - we will wait for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Sucastia - Billeeeeeee is terrific fun to be with - never a dull moment in our lives!!!!!
Dawa - Billeeeeeee doesn't mean any harm - just loves to have a laugh, make others laugh, and a friendlier guy you will never meet. Please don't take offence, get a laugh out of his comments -
Smile - if you smile at someone mostly they will smile back - say g'day to everyone you pass - stop for a chat - met heaps sof people this way

And as usual a silly and not relevant post from Billy
Howdyeeeee Earthlings,Normal ,and not so Normal,,,and a big!!!! Hi to Dawa.. thank U for your up lifting comments, I will try harder, I am by Nature a lazy person , but U have given Me more enegy to reach higher degrees of Sanity,....not.....heheheh hope to catch U out there Dawa,,enjoy the play ground,,,,,Billeeeeeeee
Sorry guys I can't come up there at the moment. Daughter, son in law and Bubs are arriving on Tuesday for their holidays. I can't wait to see Deegan, he will have grown so much, haven't seen him since he was 6 months old. Dawa. Sorry you are offended by Billeeeee. I have to agree with the others comments, A nicer guy and most friendly guy you would ever wish to meet. When I had to move up to Qld from Vic earlier in the year in an emergency situation Billeeeee was the one who stacked his motor home with all my worldly goods in every nook and cranny and delivered it weeks later to my new home. You really don't know a person until you have actually met in person and see what they are really like. There are certain people on here I count as my dear friends who have helped me through all sorts of scrapes, You might not like them but I love them all. Thats probably why I have a longer list than anyone else on here of Grey Nomads we have met.
