Beth my doctor also suggested rubbing something like deep heat into the hip. That helped at night. But as I said before, I realised mine got better after I started using orthotics in my shoes.
It surprises me to hear panadol osteo costs less with a script. I buy mine without one, $5.99 at Chemist Warehouse. Normally a perscription costs me about $30- not being on a pension or having a health care card.

Yes, I've tried that too. And I've started using orthotics again, as I also have a bit of a problem with my left foot. My dil, who's Prosthetist & Orthotist, says I have a fallen arch on the left foot. I had trouble with it years ago too. God I'm turning into an old crock!
Of course, I also realize that losing weight would help, but that's easier said than done, when it's painful to walk.
Well, I've read my own results...as you do ...and I quote...
Findings: There is no fluid in the trochanteric bursa. There is minor fluid towards the gluteus medius bursa with some irregularity of the bursal surfaces.
Impression: There is minimal fluid adjacent in the gluteus medius bursa however there is no gross trochanteric bursa seen.
My understanding of that is that there's very little fluid where there's supposed to be fluid, but it's not real bad! Am I right? Feels bad enough to me!
I can't see my GP until Thursday, so I'll just have to wait to see what she thinks should be done.
In the meantime, I got some Panadol Osteo today, so I'm hoping that will help. My Arthritic finger has been giving me curry today.
I also got the phone number for a Bowen Therapist who was recommended to me, and I'll ring in the morning to see when I can see her.
I'm just hoping this is under control before I head off in October. I know how much pain you were in at Cobb & Co Marj...it's bugga when you're wanting to travel hey.
Thanks again for all the imput.
Hey Beth,
Was just reading all the posts here and for once I know something about it hehehe being a massage practitioner. So you have an inflammation of the Bursa hey. Judging my your comment on not being able to take Aspirin which probably means you have an allergy to Codeine as do I, therefore anti-inflammatories are out of the question and they could have helped you heaps trust me on that. I take 6 Panadol Osteo a day and it helps a small amount.
Massage would help heaps as would regular stretching and exercising the hip like rotating it etc not walking as that would create further pain. It is a pity you are not near me Beth I would have you on my table quick time. My fee is $60 an hour but definitely discounted for another Grey Nomad lol. Cortisone injections work sometimes and not on others. I have had two in my chest bone and the pain of the injection was more intense than the pain of the type of arthritis I had there. In having regular cortisone injections it will eventually stop your own natural cortisone from working which is why I chose not to continue with the injections.
Speaking from an aromatherapists point of view Ginger essential oil and black pepper essential oil would work on the bursa as well as they are both heating oils and anti inflammatories. Best anti inflammatories as they contain no codeine lol.
Your finger is hurting so much because it is still moving with the arthritis. When it stops moving the pain should stop as well. I am also assuming that the finger is really hot when it hurts. . .that is quite normal as what is occurring is the bone is moving inside the finger and that causes deep pain.
Do you have a heat pack at all Beth? Putting the essential oils on your hip and then placing the heat pack over it would get those oils into your body far quicker as the heat carries it faster. But always put your drops of essential oil into a carrier oil like almond oil or even organic olive oil cold pressed at 30 mls should do it and 3 drops of black pepper and 2 of the ginger oil.
Bursitis is what happens when it gets inflamed and where the itis comes in.
If you are ever down my way call in and I will have a look at your hip and give you a treatment.
Don't overdo anything while you are in pain though you just make it worse for yourself in the long run.
Hope I have offered you some insight Beth
Michelle

What a stroke of luck to have a therapist in the GN. Its amazing what can be done through massage. Best of luck Beth and a great piece of advice from B. Gypsy.
Thanks Colls. Yes, we've exchanged a few PM's and Michelle has been very helpful.
We live about 5+ hours apart, so not too easy for me to get to Michelle just at the moment. But I do hope we all get to meet somewhere along the track some time.
Michelle, there'd be too many meds in my blood too.

Thanks Colls I appreciate what you have said and it truly is amazing what can be achieved through massage. I have had many clients leave my treatment room and not return which to me is the best feeling.
