Heading north

We tried to make a go of it but things got in the way and I am back to Plan B which is going north for the winter and south in the summer. Not perhaps the best outcome but it would be hard to see me camping 4 nights a week based on the Gold Coast indefinitely, not the main reason but looking for another plus for going north.

So the plan is to set off for Gympie tomorrow morning and steadily northwards thereafter. I will be in no hurry and would like to catch up with GNs who are in the general area, perhaps Townsville in August will be the furthest north before going inland and starting back down to arrive in Victoria in December.

Would like to stay longer in the one place this trip looking for fellowship/sightseeing and to stretch out the petrol costs. No more 1000kms in 2 days as happened whilst returning to the Gold Coast last month.

John

John, I'm sorry things didn't work as hoped. Plan B sounds pretty good though. Enjoy your travels and I hope you check out some more NSW sites on your way through. Your reports and photos of camps and places are as good as any I've seen. Take care.

I'm sure you'll balance it all just right. Don't forget to take your time. You've done the big lap, now you have to fill in the centre. Sounds like you have a plan. Good for you.

Sorry plan A didn't work the way you wanted John, never mind at least you have a plan B and that sounds pretty good anyway.

I will be in Townsville In August, arrive late 10th and leave late arvo 17th. Maybe we could catch up for a chat. PM me if you want.

You will get good use out of those solas panels Dawa. You can go to Tassie another time, it will still be there.

Good on ya John and thanks for leaving your comment on our blog.

We may cross paths as once we leave Mataranka, then down to the Isa, up to Normaton then across to Cairns. Do the family thing till it starts getting humid, and then its off to who knows where southbound for the summer. Yahooooooo!!!!!!!

Hope to catch up somewhere.

Cheers & beers

Guess plan A wasn't meant to be John.  Sorry it didn't work out.  Good luck with plan B and enjoy life on the road.

Cheers!

 Hi Ken,

In Chatsworth Park near Gympie tonight and expect to go to Tiaro tomorrow Monday so Tuesday at Gin Gin is doable, there are two Camps6 entries for Gin Gin #118 the Rest Area and #119 the Showgrounds but I will avoid the latter in favour of the free camp.

Yes - the Gin Gin free camp is really good - it is through the town from the south, if you haven't been there before John.

Just be careful on the road John. Lots of roadworks and potholes. Went down the Childers to Torbanlea yesterday. A bit rough.
Was on the Childers to Gin Gin the other day, ended up detouring a back road to get off the Bruce. Very uneven surface and heaps of crawling traffic.
