Called on John from the forum he has a house in Gin Gin and had coffee and talk for a while then setting off for Calliope. Don't know how it happened but I missed the camp ground and I had been there last month but from the other direction. Took the Biloela road and by the time I realized that it was the wrong road I compounded the error by continuing on mixing up Biloela with Gracemere and thinking that I was still going north. Definitely a senior moment because it was 120kms inland and SW to Biloela plus 75kms up the Leichardt Highway to Dululu. One interesting aspect of Biloela was the cotton fields just out of the town on the Leichardt Highway and the stacks of harvested cotton covered by tarps by the side of the fields.
So why Dululu? It had been talked about last night when discussing notable free camps when travelling north from Gin Gin. There is an option to pay for power and showers at the Dululu pub but I didn't take them up on that. It is a free camp with good facilities and a 48 hour limit but will be here only for tonight because I have been invited to camp at Sheba's place near Yeppoon tomorrow. John
Goovigen is another great camp in the area that I've never seen anyone, other than myself, comment on. It's between Biloela and Dululu, not far off the Burnett Hwy on the Biloela Duaringa Road. It's at the Pony Club, and $5 if you want power, otherwise it's free. Hot showers and toilets.
