Saunders Beach north of Townsville

Well made it up to Townsville and beyond to Saunders Beach Camps6 #40 and intend to spend a few days here before moving on to Bluewater Park 5kms further up the coast. It is a lovely beach here as the pics will testify but there are few official camping spots but the ranger comes only Thursday and Monday mornings and seems to turn a blind eye to camping in unauthorized spots. When I arrived I parked in an unofficial spot under the trees right at the sea front and asked others camped in the official spots in the sun when they would be leaving and a couple said the next morning so here I am in an official spot and getting sun on my solar panels.
Had a good day today without driving spent the morning exploring Saunders Beach and spent time fishing in the afternoon but to no avail. Don't see many black ****atoos but several were feeding in the trees nearby.

Looks like a good spot John - three or four weeks ago, you wouldn't have been able to move in there! Lovely Beach.

Glad you're having a great time John, you missed your vocation, you should have been a professional photographer!

You definitely have "the eye" for it......

You will love the Blue Water free camp too, reasonably quiet, plenty of possums in the trees around the toilet block. The sports club over the oval welcomes travelers too. Wish we were there again

Defintely don't miss Paronella Park John, it is brilliant.  So much to see and a really beautiful spot in the rainforest.  Haven't stayed overnight so don't know anything about the CP.

Cheers!

Chris
