Magnetic Island

This a place not to be missed, Put the Prado on the Barge in Townsville $160.20 Return to Nelly Bay , Have seen the Island Warts and all , Drove the 8 KLM from Picnic Bay to West Point , Horseshoe Bay to Radical Bay , Florence Bay and Arthur Bay. All the rest can be done by local bus service , but was worth having our own transport to get to look at the places the bus don't go , You can walk to West Point but 2 hours 30 mins each way

We also visited Magnetic Island recently and hired a little bomb car for the day $30.00 plus $8.00 for fuel definitely better than the bus and we found the island terrific even got my photo with Rock Wallabies eating out of my hand.

Am overlooking Magnetic Island from my site at Saunders Beach and if I continue to free camp here and in the camps just north of here for a while I may be able to visit. Have to catch up with the petrol costs of getting here first.

John

I first visited Magnetic Is in 1957 - I was 18 - & 'Love letters in the sand' was all the rage on the radio & I saw some good looking life savers but I was shy & only dreamed.

Yes , it was a bit cramped as she has all her craft gear with her. I would like something bigger. Her husband is building a larger camper based on a missubishi canter, so I expect to see him on the road soon.Interesting vehicle, though.Bill

Yep! I think it should be put up on display as a national treasure. It certainly is different, to say the least.Takes all types, I suppose.Bill

There are small wood fires available in the US for campers, but that's incredible.
