Centrelink tomorrow!!

There was an issue with some paper work didn't show when faxed , so after they sent a letter that they would refuse claim until I sent in the required paperwork - I sent another by registered mail .... after not hearing from them for a week or more , I rang again and after the 35 minute phone queue (on my mobile) I got through to someone - they then looked up the file and saw the required paperwork was in , then they would proceed to next step- they had done nothing , then another letter arrived a few weeks later - again saying claim would be denied unless I sent over another (different document - as the fax was unreadable ) this I did , no contact for two weeks so I phone again - eventually they find file & see that it has been added - no more since then ..... just goes on and on ..... am thinking of getting to Christmas Island in my dinghy - would be faster I think ......

I never mind having to wait at centrelink , they are good people who look after us and give us money to live on

Hi Lizard

I take it that at the present time you are below pension age, if this is not the case contact a Centrelink Financial Services officer and make an appointment. In my case I was under the false assumption that because of my self funded pension I wasn't eligable and I later found out that I was entitled to a part pension after talking to Centrelink

If you are still waiting for your low income health card , you need to get back to them, as it usually comes thru within a couple of weeks, I would assume that the paperwork has gone astray.

Re waiting for long periods at Centrelink, this may only apply in some offices, as most of the time I am attended to in 10 minutes and have always found the staff very helpful and friendly and a lot of help can be obtained over the phone, in fact Centrelink seems to be pushing most of the enquiries onto a phone in basis, it does help to phone in just after 8am to avoid a long wait on the phone.

Cheers

David

Maybe if you front up in person might help , It not hard to find a centrelink office , I would also take David advice and make an appointment to see Financial Officer .

Don't hold your breath waiting. I applied in 2008, finally got to appeal and won in December 2011 but still waiting on payments.  Ombudsman is now involved.

yayyy princess thats what i shall be doing , when we go out on a self funded pension we will be paying off our house
so we wont have much money so i too will be shooting for a disability pension and graeme a carers payment

they did say i will need a docs certificate and a surgeons certificate ,and then get one of there own people asses
me ,some say oh you just about have to have no legs to get it nowadays ,but i know people that get it from
migrains, all kinds of ailments so we shall see but that wont be happening till we sell our business and get things in order
n the meantime we have an appointment at centrelink with a financial advisor on the 28th of this month.
