In 2006 we were there in severe drought-not a blade of green grass anywhere & we expected John Wayne to come riding out of the hills. There this & last year & the difference in my photos is remarkable. I took 5 of my photos to camera house to get professionally stitched ( from 2006) & mounted . Am intending doing the same with last years photos. Tried to post some photos but when I hit upload photos the whole screen goes dark. tried a couple of times but same thing happens.

For some reason I am unable to load a photo - but I will try and paint a mental picture of a most beautiful place I have just been to - it is the Cawnpore Range, between Boulia and Winton here in Qld. From flat grasslands interspersed with low bushes, you start to see flat topped hills,(mesas) the area is between Hamilton ruins and Middleton Hotel. These hills are spectacular - you could think you are in Arizona, truly. We travelled along till we came to a lookout, which we climbed up to, reading the information about the area, it is a catchment area which ultimately flows into Lake Eyre - the area is about 476,000 square kilometres - and the Diamintina section is THREE TIMES LARGER THAN ENGLAND!!!!!!
From the lookout we saw a track that went up one of the nearby flat topped hills - we walked up, climbing the last 10 feet or so - the view was absolutely GOBSTOPPING!!!!!! There is no other word for it - stunning, The mesas, shrubs, Mitchell grass and distant mountains - it is absolutely awe inspiring and something not to be missed if you are in this area.
When I get to more regular reception, I will attempt to upload some photos.

Interesting, my photos wont load either. Might be out of download availabiliy
We were there twelve months ago - today! Tried to take the van up the lookout - bad mistake, instead camped about 100 metres west, about 50 metres off the road, amongst the mesas. Magic spot

Yep - we made the same error - started to drive up to the lookout - had to back down!! We only spent about an hour there - moved on to camp at Middleton pub.

I think there must have been problems with loading pics the other day, I also tried to load a photo of the Cawnpore range which is well under 1mb when this thread first started and it wouldn't load.
the upload limit is 9.56kb, very very small, but as you can see below I have one as 326kb, try doing a very small pic and see how you go, could also be as Jules said intermittent internet connections
Womby - what I did was take a photo that I had on my desktop, went to "open microsoft picture manager" I think - resize - save - it changed from the large to the smaller size and it uploaded - not very technical explanation, but was just playing around and found that this worked.

I use the free Libre Office suite for Word processor, spreadsheets, 'Power Point' & database etc purposes. Then for my browser I use Mozilla and for mail I use Windows LIve Mail. I suppose I'm just too tight to pay for the relatively expensive MS products where there is a suitable freebe.
For Picture resizing I use the free Prish image resizer. Once installed you just R click on the image & select image resizer & then choose the size that you want. A resized copy is placed in a 'resized' sub folder. Easy peasy & free too.
