Off goes the Coaster, incomes the Coromal

After our trip from Perth to S.A. a few weeks back, we decided that there was just not enough room in the Coaster so,

after advertising it for a couple of weeks, it finally sold to a bloke who happened to drive past our house and saw it sitting there with "For Sale" signs all over it.

Our 1977 Toyota Coaster 004.jpg

As soon as it was sold, I jumped onto our local GUMTREE, spotted this Coromal that had only been advertised for 13 minutes, grabbed it over the phone.

88 Coromal 22ft.jpg

Who wouldn't at the price of $5950 ???

It's an 88  22" model with rear bedroom plus en-suite / shower central lounge and front kitchen with brand new fridge. 4 new tires plus two spares and roof air con.

It was an Deceased Estate sale and the family only wanted to get rid of it.

The next time we head East, we hope to be in more comfort now. biggrin biggrin biggrin

This Grey Nomad life style beats all.smile biggrin smile

Wow. What a deal there Jim & Jean, any wonder it sold after only a couple of weeks. Sounds like a really good set up too, the new owner should be very excited with that one. I hope you told them about this forum, they might keep us up to date as they move around.

Howdy NeilnRuth,

You've got it right, We are excited about getting the Coromal at such a cheap price but,

at the same time are sorry to see the Coaster go to a new home,

If it wasn't for the fact that the motor was so under-powered and the lack of storage space in it,

I think we would have held onto it very tightly.

Anyway were happy and the people who bought the Coaster off us are more than happy with it, so all ends well.

Doug you have confused me or are you confused? As I read Jim and Jean's post, it is they who have bought the Coromal van and are very excited about it and the people who sold it aren't going to have a caravan to keep us up to date about - only the people who bought Jim and Jean's Coaster. Now have I confused you more?biggrinsmile

Ooops, Uncle Al again.

It's Me neilnruth for sure. I have just re-read the post and sure enough it was the Coromal that was $5950.00 not the Coaster. Oh well. I don't think the men in white coats are far away now. I bet you wish you are on a bus I am driving. I will always get you there, it might not be where you wanted though.

Enjoy the Coromal Jim and Jean, keep us posted how things are going.

I still hope you told the buyers of the Coaster about the forum so they can keep us all up to date then.

There, I think I'm right with all that.

Goodonya Kiwijims, hope you have many wonderful safe adventures with your new van.
What are you going to tow it with? Will be interested to read your future posts comparing travelling in a motorhome/bus to towing a caravan.

Howdy Gerty,

The Tow Vehicle we have is a 89 Nissan Patrol,..........

100_9706.jpg

I bought this Patrol about 5 years ago and have towed our previous caravan,

right around the Main Land plus Tassie with-out any major trouble,

It only has a 4.2 diesel motor with-out a turbo but, it still gets us there and back at a comfortable 85 kph all day long.

It maybe some time before we can write about our travels in the Coromal,

as I intend to revamp the rear bedroom, fitting a larger d/bed and replacing some damaged wall panels.

We hope to meet some of you folks  in our future travels, say, around Happy Hour time.smile smile smile

Cheers Jim & Jean.

Howdy Jean & Alex,

They reckon that if you stick to something long enough, it gets into your blood biggrin  biggrin  biggrin

I suppose after having spent more than half my life in the Caravan Trade, One could say I qualify as being a "Caravan Nutta".

Just love getting in and under them.

Maybe you can fill us in as to whats on a Whitman Park next Friday, ???? Can't say i've heard of anything nonono

kiwijims smile
