Got run off the bloody road

Driving along the Reid Highway in Perth today in the lefthand lane when a bloody 40 odd seat charter bus that was along side me decided he wanted my lane, luck happens there is an emergency stopping lane. Well thats where I ended up, all this taking place at 90kmh. Well I seen red, pulled back on the road behind and read the sign. It said for charters ring, so I did and told the company what I thought of the standard of their drivers as the one that run me off the road needed an urgent eye test as well as a hearing test as he no doubt never heard my blaring horn either. The old ticker was still trying to exit through my chest 1/2 hr later

A little while back Blaze on the Reid I was travelling along in the left side lane towing a caravan when a car driver pulled out straight in front of my vehicle from a side road without stopping, I slammed on the anchors praying I wouldn't get rear ended and as this car was travelling slow, hit my horn hoping he would pick up speed while I was trying to reduce speed.

The idiot did the opposite and slowed right down, I don't know what he was on but I was really peed off as to what he had almost caused.

Have you also noticed that the front car at a set of lights go into shock or something when a light turns green, casually take off slowly and then only them and possibly one or two get through the lights before they turn red? Some are just dam inconsiderate. When you consider the different personalities and attitudes we have with people in general, it is a scary thing driving on the road thinking some of these idiots have driving licences (or not)...... furious

Arrogance and selfishness are the conditions of many drivers. I can't believe the behaviour of so many drivers right across this country.
The bus incident could have been the result of the mirrors not set to pick up vehicles travelling on the immediate left of the bus. Trucks also have a similar problem, and if a "fish-eye" mirror isn't installed it's a blind spot. Some buses have a window at the bottom of the front door, but there is always the problem of blind spots in modern vehicles.
The biggest blind spot is behind the wheel. Once again, I cannot stress enough the need to use mirror, periferal vision and "common" sense.
There seems to be a common problem caused by people not thinking about the impact of their actions on others. It's everywhere from the footpath, the supermarket and on the roads. That's what causes many crashes.
It is then up to us to take evasive action to avoid any possible collision. If they don't see us, we have to make sure we are aware of them and anticipate any behaviour. ESP is a valuable skill on the roads.

You have to be married to that sheila called Claire Voyant, to buy ESP on Ebay.Its true, but it happens everywhere. I was run off the road by a B double who abused me for going to slow at 110kph- he passed me at 140kph!Bill

I had a similar incident recently. B Double pushed across 3 lanes, I ended up in the outer break down lane.

Rang the trucking company told them what happened, reception was so so.

Then I told them that my vehicle is equiped with a video camera, their attitude changed dramatically.

I burnt a DVD of the incident and have posted it to the company and registered mail.

The ESP develops by spending a lot of time on the road, which gives me the instinct to predict with reasonable accuracy how they are going to behave.
One of my pet peeves is the vehicle in front braking, AND THEN indicating their intentions. It can cause all sorts of problems for the motorists out the back. This is when that ESP comes in very handy.
The roads are bad enough in many regions, pot holes, uneven surfaces, narrow, crusty and broken. Add rotten drivers and it's a zoo out there.

I was in my hilux with slide on camper, and only damage was a cracked winscreen. The driver of the b double wanted to fight me, so I called the cops and they met him in Mt. Molloy. He was full of no doze pills , and argued with the police who had to handcuff him.Steam was coming out of his ears.They drive straight from Adelaide to NQ, and the pills keep them going.It must be why they are so agressive at times.I usually pull off and let tehm pass , now.listen to ch 40. sometimes he's my mate and sometimes he's not, this week he is not, next week only time will tell biggrin

Michelle told me about his accident, she also told me not to tell anybody else cos she would get into trouble with his highness. biggrin

Blaze's post is a timely warning to interstate drivers visiting WA: a lot of people on the road here should be nowhere near the road. Take extra care.

For some reason, I seem to attract tailgaters (another WA speciality). The tow bar/ball on my Colorado sticks out a bit, so I'm thinking about getting a sticker to mount above it: "Warning. Any meeting between my towbar and your radiator will end in tears. Your tears. BACK OFF."

Know how you feel Blase went north on tonkin hyway yesterday got cut off 3times in as many ks.

the problem is when they do cause an accident they could take somebody's live, usually never their own.

NandK, I got the top of the range camera and I'm very happy with it.

Having lived in Perth for nearly 4 years one learns that buses are a law unto them selves - they have total right of way it seems! Be VERY afraid of them! Even worse - try travelling in them. Flat tack then slam on the brakes at the next stop - scary stuff!

Are WA buses equipped with seatbelts? I've only ridden in a Canberra bus once, no seatbelt, and scary. Never again! Yes a bus does have right-of way, that doesnt mean they are allowed to run you off the road!

All these incidents happen in Qld too, so I assume it's Australia wide.

Returning home yesterday from my trip out west, I had a young 'lady' tailgating me. I was doing 100kph in the left lane, with my exit coming soon. So I just took my foot off the accelerator, to which she flashed her lights at me, to which I put on my hazard lights. Then she backed off slightly. She took the same exit as me and continued to tailgate me, even when there was space to pass me. (Still doing the speed limit) Then she turned into the same street as me! I thought I was in for road rage! But she finally passed me and across her back window was Princess. And with a P plate!

Every time I see a P plater, I take extra care. They're dicing with death!

No seatbelts in Qld buses either. evileye

Beth, I would have dropped back to 80 and she could wait.
Aren't you allowed to or supposed to tow a caravan at 80 kph. I thought I had read that here somewhere.

This was after I'd dropped Lulu at her home away from home...my ex's place.. Marj.

When I took my foot off the accelerator, I was probably doing about 80. It's an 80 zone after exiting, then a 60 zone. All of this was obviously too slow for her. furious

Wombat, I blame the driving 'games' I've seen the young teens playing. They can smash the cars, run down pedestrians etc and come back to life again. Then they get out on the real roads and think they're invinsible like in the games.

That's my theory anyway. wink

And blaze, I hope your hearts back to a regular beat now. Scares the beejeezus out of you doesn't it!
