Heading to Charters Towers this morning from Mt Isa, to pick up the part for the oven that has been posted up from Melbourne . Will visit some of the towns along the way. The part was posted on Tues. so hopefully it will be waiting for us when we arrive.

Hey guys - Charters is a nice town - the look from the lookout is a good one - tho last time I saw it the whole area was blanketed in a dust storm - couldn't see much at all.
Also see the "call of the card" at the Stock Exchange - it is fun seeing how it was "way back when". Enjoy your travels - hope your part is there when you get there.

Hi Kiwi-as, believe there are some really nice free camps around Charters.  Jules has checked them out she will be able to fill you in.

We 'free camped' at the park on the edge of town where the dump point is located in Charters Towers

We stayed in the CP,,not my idea, but the friends I was travelling with.

Yes, I agree about the view from the lookout. We also went on the tour of the old mine. I personally felt it was a bit long.

Beautiful old buildings in Charters.
